Hey folks,

Just used all Zaino products on my 06 Ram Maga Cab and it really blew me away as far as the luster that I achieved from the Product, I have to say it was a bit overwhelming clay baring the whole truck + color matched Topper

Anyway, to my question; I have a black plastic inlay for my truck rail steps and the top trim panel for the rear bumper which has sun faded into a Gray tone which should be coal black is there anything on the market that could restore these pieces back to it's original color. I don't want to use a spray paint designed for plastic due to over spray but I thought that there might be another type of dye or brush on paint that you all could recommend.

Its going to be tough to permanently bring them back. I use Poorboys Trim Restorer on textured black trim and it does a great job. Use it on a microfiber applicator pad for a little extra bite. Thats my best solution, hope it helps

This took about 3 coats and then a final buff w/ a mf towel. I did a quick swipe so you could see just how bad these things were!

And after about 3 coats of trim restorer... you get this

(fwiw, I applied each coat and let it absorb for about 10 mins between each application)

Fwiw, you would have to reapply every so often, once you see the trim starting to fade again.

Meguiars makes a similar product you can get at any auto parts store.

I used a product called "Back to Black" one time. Worked very well but only lasted a couple of weeks. It was also on a jeep, I wonder why they havn't addressed the fading of the plastic on the Wrangler? I don't think I have seen one more than six months old that isn't all faded out.

Believe it or not ,but that orange hand cleaner with pumice in it works great on black plastic too .

I think it's black plastic on EVERY car that has that problem, some just stand out more because of location .

Well I just got back from wally's world, and they had the mother's "back to Black" so I'll try that and see. Went to auto Zone and the kid swore they had it but couldn't even find the shelf they had it in

Told me to come back Tuesday when their truck came in ....Righhhhhhhhht

Try 303 protectant. Easy to use, and it supplies an spf 40 to yoru plastic, for both exterior and interior use. Stoner's products are pretty good too, as are Auto Magic (the supplier I purchase from is in the dallas texas area), it's a water based formula that can provide either little shine, or a lot, depending on your specific application needs. (not silicone based, as is turtle wax, etc. that will end up drying out the plastic and cause premature drying and cracking) I've also heard great things of Poorboys, although I haven't used it as of yet. Hope it helps!

Black again is good. The problem with using things like armor all is when you spray it it's white. Where do you think that color goes? Into the plastic yes it also fades but allot of it is due to the actual armor all. I've relegated armor all to areas of the car that get very little sun and the wheels.
