In a apt for a month while kitchen being redone, thought this would help more than hurt.

I have gone against the grain in the past and used a high quality cover from California Car Cover Company as opposed to using any oem or model specific cover. A lot of covers will not provide adequate protection against the elements, and many covers have the potential of leaving marring or scratches on the paint. I've never had any high quality car cover scratch or marr the paint on my vehicles.

A high quality cover should state that its at least scratch resistant, and have a limited warranty. I never go with cheap quality or inexpensive covers for a car that matters (not saying that the op's cover was cheap, but just putting that out there).

Hopefully you can recover from those marks with a good polish detail. Edit: Having wax or a sealant on the paint while its covered also extends the protection jfyi.

Had the car detailed before I covered it, guess she will be driven every day until I get my garage back.

I have a new 2013 ZL1 vert and have always used a cover that was felt lined on my cars. I just bought the OEM ZL1 red with a black stripe cover, just seams very flimsy and I'm scarred to put it on the car with fear that it will scratch the car. I would like to get a cover that is felt lined but scared that the felt fibers will slowly come off and get all over the convertible top. Anybody have any suggestions? The car will always be in the garage and covered.

I need to get back in touch with Maureen at Rogers Chevy to decide what to get.

Bill

I have the same cover, I wouldn't put it on without an indoor cover underneath, if you have any wind with the Red one on, it will be scratched. But if you are keeping it inside you should probably buy an indoor cover.

That all depends on what you are protecting the car from. The sun will destroy the inside and also the heat. Tree sap and so on can hurt a finish. Now wind could be harmful, so it all depends on what you are trying to protect from, better to not cover unless inside may not be always true.

I feel very fortunate to have a garage. I didn't always have one. Keeping a "nice" car outside is a lot of stress and worry.

Starhutch,
What was the cost of the cover and do you have pics or a part number for the cover? Thanks.

The Garage would cost more than 2 ZL1s, so that may not work. Rent one, that is less cost, you can buy a metal carport for less money than a garage.
