Borla Catback exhaust questions
Hey all,
I was looking to upgrade the sound of my exhaust and I was liking the Borla sound. I was curious if anyone had heard the S-type and the Atak side by side. I want louder but not annoying. Any thoughts between the two? I haven't done anything with my headers yet and probably wont for another year or so. Thanks! |

Best bet is to listen to this video, Borla goes through the touring, s-type, and atak models in cabin and outside to test the sound levels. Preferably for me at least, S-type is where it's at, but take a listen and let me know if I can help out any further

I did look at those and they had me leaning towards the S-type as well. It's just hard to tell on crappy laptop speakers. Haha!

I had that problem too with these speakers, but I plugged my laptop into my home theater system at home, and pissed off some neighbors for a bit, it sounds THAT good.

Liking the Borla S-Type sound. I have a 2014 SS/RS and looking at that system, but just want to go as far as getting the sound and alittle bit more hp without tuning. Wat is needed and where ould I look to buy.
Thx |

I was in the same position as the OP and went with the Borla S-type. Barely noticeable inside the cabin, great sound from the outside but it does have some drone. Borla is unfortunately known to have some drown, I experience it between 1700 -2000 rpms through most of my shifts.

Ive had both. The atak sounded great without headers... but was a bit much to me with. I love my S-type with the headers, best sounding exhaust with headers IMO.

Still looking for advise on the S-Type and where to purchase and exactly which set-up to avoid any type of tuning at this time. Will look into headers after warranty runs down, just want the sound now...thx.

Cat back systems alone require no tunes regardless to which system you do.

Thanks guys. Anyone think I can get GM to pick up part of the cost? I brought my car in before I put it away for the winter because of a rattle in the exhaust and the dealership said they had to replace the exhaust from the cat back and that GM would pay part of the cost for the OEM parts under the GMPP or whatever it was.
