V6 clutch problems

Hey guys, I ran a search and didn't come up with an answer so I figured I'd ask before I go to the dealer on monday. For the last 4 days I've got in my car to go somewhere in the morning, and when I push the clutch in to start it the pedal doesn't come back up. I've read about V8 guys having this problem but not the V6's. It's mighty annoying because the clutch does engage an disengage, the pedal just only travels about 2-3 inches until I pull it all the way out with my foot. This is also accompanied by a squeaking noise every time I start off or shift into the lower 3 gears, squeaking also happens when I go over bumps. It hasn't done any of this for the dealer yet but many people have heard it riding with me so I know I'm not just paranoid. Any help or advice is appreciated as always!

Sounds like a hydraulic issue, Maybe Master cylinder is bad. They also have had an issue with pressure plate bolts loose.

I'm hoping it's something pretty easy to fix. What's slightly worrying is that about a week after I got the car I noticed that the master cylinder had spilled a lot of fluid onto the driver's side wheel and under the hood. I assumed it was something to do with the braking but at the time didn't know there was a line running to the clutch as well, and that's on the side of the MC closest to the wheel so it would make sense... Dealer said there was nothing wrong and replaced the cap but I'm starting to wonder now... I'm also wondering whether my seat is squeaking? I know some of it is in fact the clutch but squeaking while going over bumps I'm inclined to think is the seat...

Any resolution to this problem yet? I've got the same issue. It seemed to start when the weather got colder. I've noticed that when the temperature gets warmer and I go out to start the car, there isn't any clutch sticking. I've checked the master cylinder and it is full, but there appears to be a little residue from the fluid on the outside of the cylinder. Also, the pedal has a softer and more of a "dead" feel than it originally did.

If you did get this fixed, what dealer did you take it to? I'm in Coppell and Classic in Grapevine is my closest dealer (I got the car in Louisiana at Red River Chevy).

Unfortunately I haven't gotten this issue fixed. It happens to me still on occasion. I was actually able to get a video of it on my phone to help me describe it next time I'm at Classic. It's definitely hydraulic issue though, and it definitely seems to get worse in cold weather, but at least on my car it's not the only time I've noticed it. I plan on asking about it next time I go up there for an oil change. I'll keep you posted!

Well, I took mine into Classic today. I'll keep you posted on what they tell me.
I did also get some video of the issue and showed to the service manager.

I know this is an old thread but I am having this same issue and my clutch slips like crazy. My dealer pulled the trans for the 2nd gear grind and wont cover the clutch because its blue from slip[ping from the pedal sticking. They are accusing me of racing the car causing the blue spots..

turboguy, have you spoken with our Customer Assistance team in regards to this issue? They may be able to help in this situation and get to an agreeable resolution. I can help in getting in contact with them and if you'd like to pursue it this way let me know.

I have spoken with them. I got the cold shoulder and the I really don't care attitude. They refuse to do anything for me and haven't all summer long. Now my clutch is toast and they want 1500 for a new clutch. GM customer care told me the dealers work is the end of discussion and gm will not help at all.

Its a V6 drivetrain thread so of course you would disappear.

I'm sorry if you feel I've ignored you as well turbo. Could you message me your case number so I can take a look at it? Thank you. Hopefully I can bring some more resources to bare on this.

I just got my car back from the dealer for the same problem. A while back I took it in for possible leaks in the BRAKE master cylinder. They replaced that and the booster. I got the car back and the clutch pedal felt a little odd. About 2 days later the temp dropped to lower 50s overnight and my clutch pedal dropped about 2 inches. I could either pull it back up or drive for about 20 minutes before it would come up on its own. I could only reproduce the problem by letting the car sit overnight on a cold night. (At this point I am assuming air in the line)

I dropped it off at the dealer one cold night so they could look at it. They found fluid on the bellhousing and deduced the clutch slave was leaking. They replaced it and bled the system and now it feels like it did when new. I don't know if they verified it was the slave or not and I haven't had the opportunity to check if it's cured. Got it back today.

I don't have the squeeking problem
