2011 Black 2SS/RS "CHAOS"

"CHAOS"

I’ve wanted a Camaro RS/SS since I was a teenager in the 80s. I always favored the 67-69, they were American Muscle. I really wasn’t crazy about any other Camaro since those three amazing years. Thirty years later, the 67-69s are hard to find and very expensive. Not to mention they lack the technology (nav/sat radio/bluetooth) found in new cars. When Chevy revived the Camaro, I went out and tried to find a 2SS/RS...no luck. With a 60+ day wait for the 2SS/RS, I purchased a 2010 2LT/ RS (V6 version) instead. Although I loved the car itself, it just didn’t feel right. I think the motto “if you’re gonna be a bear, be a grizzly” holds true. So....I finally purchased my dream car, a black 2SS/RS.

Completed Modifications:
  • Kenwood DNX6980 Nav/Sat Radio/Bluetooth/CD-DVD
  • Kenwood CMOS200 Backup Camera (works with DNX6980)
  • Metra Custom Dash Kit
  • Factory 21" wheels - Polished Aluminum with Gloss Black Powder Coating
  • Gorilla Wheel Locks
  • Front: Pirelli P Zero 245/40 / Rear: Pirelli P Zero 275/35
  • Borla ATAK Exhaust (catback)
  • CAI Cold Air Intake
  • Smoke Front and Rear Side Markers
  • Sequential LED Tail Lights – Black
  • Flat Black Tail Light Bezels
  • GM Heritage Grille
  • SS Emblem Grille (Black) by Sparks
  • SS Emblem Trunk (Black) by Sparks
  • SS Emblems Side (Black Billet)
  • SS Engine Cover Insert
  • Interior Stitching – Red
  • Backseat Windows (4%) and Rear Window Tint (17%)
  • SS Floor Mats – Black with red SS logo outlined in white
  • Custom Embroidered Headrests with Black SS Logo Outlined in Red
  • NJ Vanity Plate "2SSRS"

Planned Modifications:
  • Custom Leather/Suede Interior

Metra Dash Kit Installed

Got the dash kit installed with the Kenwood radio. If you're considering getting this dash kit...DO IT! I am very happy with the look of the kit and the functionality is awesome!

The Metra Dask Kit (99-3010s for the 10-11 Camaro) cleans up the ugly radio and A/C controls. It also allows the car owner to customize the color of the LCD display and select the trucker lady if desired. The Kenwood radio selected (DNX6980) offers AM/FM Radio, Satellite Radio, Backup Camera, Nav System, CD/DVD Player and Bluetooth. The Kenwood allows customization of the colors as well. I configured the dash kit LCD colors and the radio button colors to match the Camaro’s light blue interior lighting.

Black Bowties

Installed the Black bowties this morning. The mod only included the black bowties, reusing the chrome bowtie outline. To get the gold bowtie out of the chrome section without removing the emblem, just use a 1/4" drillbit to drill a hole in the gold section of the logo. Be sure not to drill all the way through the entire emblem. After you have the hole, use a screwdriver to pry it off. It was actually a 5 minutes mod...very easy.

*removed these and replaced them with Sparks SS emblems

I also finished coloring the stitching this morning. Took about 2 hours and 2 pens were used.

It was a Kenwood camera. The parts needed were as follows:

CMOS200 - Kenwood Rearview Camera (there was a "better" Kenwood camera, but the picture was very washed out).

CASR20V - I think that was the cable needed for the camera.

Also, most backup cameras are powered when the car is put in reverse. I had them power mine so I can view the rear camera at any time.

Anytime viewing would have to require an extra switch , right ?

Also can you take a pic from the pass/ side at like cross section so we can have a better idea how much the kit run over the 4 gages , thanks for you time .

One of the buttons on the Kenwood has a 2nd function if held down. That will display the rear camera at any time. I can also do a split screen with the display, 1/2 nav & 1/2 camera, 1/2 nav & 1/2 radio.

Happy to help!

Installed the red side SS badges (these should have been on the car from the factory IMO!)

* I removed the "CAMARO" and SS emblem, replacing these with Sparks black SS emblems

Also installed the SS badge on the engine cover.

Sequential black LED Tail Lights

Installed my Sequential black LED Tail Lights today. I think it looks soooooo much better than the red tail lights! Took about 30 minutes, tricky getting the bezels off, but kinda easy mod overall.

Thanks!

I used a FabricMate pen. Took about 2 hours and I used 2 pens.

Be sure to wipe every 3-4 inches...don't do a long section and then try to wipe the excess away as it will be harder get it off.

BTW, I love the red stripe on your hood with the "SS"!
