current XM radio subscription rates
Hi all,
I'm going to be losing my trial XM radio next week.... I've gotten 2 phone calls to subscribe so far, but at rates that don't motivate me to sign up. Their first offer to me is to continue w/ a 3 month subscription for @ $8 mo + a few bucks in fees... well... maybe... What sort of negotiations have you been able to pull off? Do I have a better chance to negotiate if I just let the free trial period elapse? Should I ask for a year subscription at a time, or go for the quarterly offers? Ideas? I'm not entirely certain that I want XM radio actually, but if the price were right, then I'd keep it.... meaning, I want a price that I can't refuse. Thanks in advance for ideas and suggestions! Yes, and I already know not to give them my credit card #.

I took the $77 dollar a year deal. I also got a free radio for for my wife's car at the same yearly price. Not really happy with XM but sirrius is not available without an external tuner for the Camaro.

Why don't you just pay the $499.00? It's a one time payment and as long as you own the car your good.

I just got one in the mail.
12 months for $77 or 5 months for $20 with no reactivation fee. I love how the 5 months rate is way less than the the 12 month, even when you double the 5 months it almost twice as much for 2 more months... They called me at like 6am on a weekend one time with the same offer, I told them to never call me that early again... I have not reactivated yet because I did not find anything worth listening to. I use my iPhone and Pandora radio for all the music I want. But yes you typically get better offers if you wait, and you do it when they call you.

Lifetime actually does not sound bad. maybe when it expires. I know I'll have this car for some time.

when my trial expired i let it go, the car was in the garage for winter anyway so i didnt care or need to pay for sat radio. but they kept calling and sending me flyers in the mail. finally i saw one for 1/2 off a 12 month subscription. came out to 77. so i got it. but its only for a year and then the rate will go up. and when that happens ill prob let it expire again.

I like the XM, but not enough that I'm going to pay much for it.
XM has all these GM equipped cars driving around (including my Trailblazer) that don't pay for the service. Why doesn't XM just offer something like $5 month per car? It's not costing XM anything (they're already broadcasting) and I know I'd pay the $60 a year for the service. I'm sure there are a lot more like me. Does XM really make more charging $12 a month for X number of users over the $5 a month for Y users?

I would do the lifetime but with the way XM and Sirius are on the brink of bankruptcy I think I'll keep going to the annual rates. Plus steaming music over cell is becoming more and more reliable.
