What's the speculation on the Z/28 performance vice the ZL1? Thoughts?

So...purely speculatively-speaking...can I answer with another question? Will the Z28 be priced appropriately? |

If there is a Z/28 and if they build it as we have discussed in this thread the Z/28 would be a better car on a road course defined by -- less weight up front, less heat soak (NA vs FI) and a wheel and tire package that is designed for optimal cornering at the expense of ride quality. In terms of technology, the ZL1 is state-of-the-art. The Z/28 would be old school, because that is what the enthusiasts in this thread want. Last edited by JusticePete; 08-26-2011 at 03:52 PM. |

I have to say this is one of the best threads on camaro5. I have
not been able to read every page yet, but I get the idea, and agree we need an LS7 Camaro and the z/28 is a perfect fit. There is a tuner/aftermarket shop in my area that has done quite a few LS7 conversions into SS camaros and the results are very exciting. I had the opportunity to drive the 2nd car they built, rode in another, and have seen many others set up as N/A LS7 cars and Supercharged LS7 cars, and all are very exciting. The day I drove the car, I quickly came to the conclusion that an LS7 was my top choice for the camaro I wanted. I have yet to purchase my camaro for a couple reasons, but an LS7 Z28 will send me over the edge and force that purchase decision to happen rather quickly. Has anyone else here driven an LS7 Camaro ? Does anyone here own an LS7 Camaro ? |

Dragoneye, "appropriate pricing" is in the eye of the buyer...AND GM...
BOSSes from $42-48K leaves a "sweet spot" for Z/28 pricing to play within...'tween 2SS and ZL1...with performance close to a ZL1, especially 'round a track, as Pete astutely notes. And that spread allows for a carefully-optioned and -featured 1SS with an LS7, a suitably upgraded "old school" "enhanced FE4" suspension, HD brakes/driveline components, and weight-saving, handling-assisting measures like forged wheels and Z (or R) -rated rubber for supreme gription (my favorite recent word...). Like the BOSS, and complementing Wixom's "wishes" and "capacities", 5,000 units would frankly be the tip of the iceberg...with NO Titanic downside... Sorry for the metaphors, but you get the gist...right? NOW...do "they" get the gist?! Get those card 'n letters (and e-mails) going! Vote with your wallets, folks! EDIT: Some of you may have noticed I changed my "sig"... Feel free to "copy and paste" it to your notes, but you might just delete the "broken record"...or NOT as the case may be. There will be NO copyright infringement, and NO royalites to pay! Last edited by LOWDOWN; 08-26-2011 at 04:38 PM. |

Knowing roughly what my car will be like when Tom Henry Racing and I are done with it...I would value the formula above around $45k - from the factory...that should be enough to let them make some money (unlike, I suspect, the Boss) which means unlimited numbers, like the ZL1. |
