I had two Flowmasters on my '95; a 2-chamber and a Single-chamber with Delta Flow. I can't say I liked the sound the higher the engine was in the powerband; it just got all muddy. I'm sure it was just the Y-pipe/I-pipe arrangement, but they do sound good on Mustangs. Too noisy for me now though. I'll stick with Borla and Magnaflow. I'm eager to hear what they sound like on Camaro though. If they offered their popular mufflers in stainless steel, I'd consider them more, but I've had a pair rust-up on my dad's truck, and they only had about 50K miles on them and we don't like on the coast or in the mountains. Hey - I'm open to options though

Of course you are going to gain power. You swapped them out with stock. To make the amount of sound and resonance they are so famous for, it takes alot of internal channels/passages in those chambers. Which equals restriction. Cut one open, see what I mean.

She probably jumped up thinking someone was stealing the Camaro you haven't gotten yet!

I put a Super 40 on my old lady's GMC Sierra... it has the larger V8 with AFM.

It sounds good. It's pretty mellow though. Sounds good when you step on it. Isn't too loud at idle. But it sounds considerably different than it would on a classic car.

I have dual Super 40's on my 77 Silverado with a 350 V8. The exhaust on my truck has a lot more presence... it's good and loud... obnoxious... sets off car alarms down my street.......... and if I'm driving in a concrete parking garage, you can just forget it! haha Cars chirp left and right.

QUESTION

When is Flowmaster going to make an Axle-Back Kit? That's all I'd want on my aftermarket exhaust.... maybe headers.

One option for those who like the sound but doesn't want to give up performance...Add a cutout before the mufflers (after the X pipe), this way you avoid any restriction caused by the mufflers, yet when they are closed to retain the classic flowmaster sound.
Just a thought...

warranty question

I have watched the video on flowmaster's hushpower pro installation on the new camaro. I really like it but was wondering if it would void the warranty on the car? Does anyone know if it will or not?

Just make sure "cutouts" are legal in your State first!

They are a No No in a lot of them!

I used to like Flowmasters but I guess I grew out of that loud aggressive sound I'm more for a mellow type stainless steel exhaust like Borla or Corsa

I've got a Super 40 on my 04 GMC Sierra, and Super 44s on my 70 Chevelle.......both great sounding mufflers.
I'm going to go with Super 44s on the Camaro!
