I considered this too , when I first bought the car.
After seeing the general reliability , long term , as in 50k miles plus, I see no need for it. |

If you purchase an extended warranty, be aware dealerships mark them up at least 100%.
I told my dealership I found the GMPP online for (whatever price) and I was told what their cost is and told they can only come down to a 50% markup. This person said, "I'd buy it online". Dealerships......... |

I had it on my 04 cts v got plenty of use out of it. Those card were known for bad rear ends. I went threw 4 rear ends and the axels twice. That car was always going in for something. So I got plenty of use of they extended warranty and got it on the Camaro just incase

My car is approaching 6000 miles since I bought it new in April 2012. No issues to speak of aside from the minor rear end clunk going into reverse. I will get it looked at one day.
I also got a 5 year/75K bumper to bumper tossed into the deal for free, so she's covered so long as I owe money on it. I plan on paying it off early though, anyway. I wouldn't waste money on it if you've put a whopping 6K on the car since 2010.

if you haven't had any issues in the 3/36 warranty area, then you are probably safe and have no need to worry about and extended..
if you have reoccuring problems in the first 3/36 they yeah get one. |

Stay away from that criminal extended warranty that GM gives, they take your money then find every way possible why they shouldnt honor it.
There are many good after market warranties out there that will warranty your vehicle and do repairs regardless if you have bolt ons or tunes etc. in the long run its relativly cheap to have a warranty and it gives piece of mind. Unless its a weekend ride or you have 6 or 7k in the bank you can keep just for emergencies I would recomend a good aftermarket warranty. Personally, I would get a warranty anyways, as posted several good ones even give you some or most of it back if you dont use it. |

TSB's and recalls they will cover regardless of warranty, original or extended, or not. TSB's they are not obligated to tell you as they are not verified as a real recurring problem as defined by the US govt's protocol for what constitues a recall.
Whenever you go into the service dept, ask about TSBs or anything they have seen "trends" about. GM is actually one of the best car companies to bend over backwards in honoring warranty work. |

I say NO on extended warranty. Look at the advantages....you can now mod your car further without feeling guilty of voiding a warranty. Your car is still "new" with 6,000 miles anyways.

When I had My TA I looked into an extended warranty. I checked 5 at the time and none coverd aftermarket parts or cars that were modified.
It even stated on 2 that they didnt cover cars with aftermarket exhaust, headers, superchargers, modified computers that were not stock. The car had to almost be all original for them to cover it. In my SS I dont care I got the 3 year (1 year left) and the remaining power train. Thats enough for me till its paid off and who know if I trade it in after that. Even that some extended's make you pay a deductable and pay for all tax for all the work being done. |

this is wrong.. TSB's are not covered unless you have a warranty.. Recalls are. A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin to the dealerships/techs it has nothing to do with the customer and it is not a recall, but simply a documented issue and resolution. If you are out of warranty the TSB will NOT be covered, it WILL be out of your pocket. Unless your dealer does it as a Customer Satisfaction claim. If not, expect to pay.. TSB's are NOT a mandatory repair to all vehicles, there are certain symptoms and conditions that are required to be met for them to apply. |
