Just got my first camaro and need expert advice
Hi guys just got my first camaro. It is a 2012 2lt white/black. Will post pics when I get home. Was just wondering if you camaro experts can help me out. Like I said before I just got the car and need some mods to put on it. Can you please tell me what is worth it and what isn't so I can learn from your experiences.

First off welcome and congrats on the new Camaro. Now to answer your question the best starting mods in my opinion are a Catch can, Cold Air Intake, a exhaust of your choice, and finished off with a Ported Throttle Body. That gives you a good base and wakens up the car a bit. Don't waste your time on things like a throttle body spacer or hand held tunners/chips for this car. If you want to go cosmetic there is a world of options and many things to choose from so I would recommend to just browse the forum and see what you like and don't like to get an idea.
As far as recommendations for the mods that I listed are for a Catch can I would go with either Elite or Rx Performance. You cant go wrong with either of the cans. I personally have the Elite because of its draining method. The bottom of the can unscrews and makes it much simpler to clean out. Now for a CAI I personally would choose Cold Air Inductions Inc. They make a great looking and performing CAI but there are other good companies out there like Roto-fab, Injen, Vararam, etc.. The Vararam might be the one that delivers the best performance but im not a fan of the looks. An Exhaust of your choice is purely subjective. Everybody will have different likes and dislikes but the general population will say that the MRT V1 or V2 is the way to go. And I completely agree with it. I have the V2 and love the sound but I have also heard the V1 in person and they sound good too. Just like the CAI there are other brands out there like Corsa, Borla, Solo, Ark, etc... My recommendation would be to go to this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33104 and grab a good pair of headphones and just listen and see what you like best. The exhaust in that thread are for the 10-11 V6 so they might sound a little different but will you give you the general idea. Another thing to take into account is that you can not install headers on the LFX that is on the 12-13 V6. And the Last mod I have listed is a ported throttle body. In reality there is really only one company that sells its (V-max) and it will just give you slightly better acceleration. Its relatively inexpensive and a nice mod. Like I said in the begging what I said above are my opinions and recommendations based on what I have seen done and heard on these cars. |

Jason, Memendez covered the mod question for you already and I agree with him.....so on to the important stuff.......
CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy. oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Don't forget some appearance stuff. I got some hood spears, new grill, and footwell lighting. Each one turns heads and is pretty cheap. That's where you get most of the compliments, this car is gorgeous!

I got it off ebay. PM me for a link if you like. I have it wired into the dome light so it goes on and off when you open and close the door. It was pretty easy to do!
