V6 Rotor Help, RUST! Drilled or Slotted - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I've had my 2010 V6 Camaro since May 6, 2009. Its got 13,000 miles on it.

It is never driven in the rain, unless I'm caught in a random shower. The only water this car ever sees in when it gets washed!

My brake rotors look like complete s#!t... They are rusting terrible. My brake pads are perfectly fine, and the brakes work great, but I have got to get rid of these rotors.

Does anyone know of any good companies who sell good rotors for the V6 that are stainless, drilled or slotted. I've googled but haven't had a lot of luck. Hopefully one of you guys have upgraded or know of some good rotors out there! Thanks for the help!

All new cars have brake rotors that develop natural surface rust. Let's see some pictures of your rotors to see if they look any different than normal.

I don't have any pics of it at the moment, but after having it over a year it gets worse and worse all the time. Once you hit the breaks it cleans it off of course, and the surface looks fine, but where the vents are and out edge is just complete rust and looks horrible.

getting new rotors isnt going to change anything, even the new ones will be like that.

it just means you have to drive it more often..

If it really really really bothers you you can use a high temperature paint. I think Rustoleum makes a 1500 of 1800 degree paint. Wire brush away all the surface rust on the hub and rotor edges. Do not paint the area that the brake pad contacts. Paint them. That should solve what is purely an aesthetic issue for a year or do at a time.

Please visit the Market place thread. There are several companies who make rotors for the V6 like DBA, 1R, and others both slotted and drilled.
