Camaro V6 vs. Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Looking for insight on how a Porsche 911 GT3 RS (Which is a V6 @ 3.8L) can put out 450HP Naturally Aspirated...but the Camaro V6 can only put out 312HP (2012's are doing 320HP)?

Could it be possible for a Camaro V6 to be modded to reach anywhere near that type of horespower Naturally Aspirated??? Is 400HP in mods expecting too much out of the Camaros LLT?

The GT3 RS is more than just an engine,...its the whole package. The setup of the car is what accounts for its great performance. Its suspension and weight are a big plus.

High compression, high revs, lightweight reciprocating assembly, and a real nice set of heads and cams. The camaro v6 COULD be modded to reach those power levels NA, but it would cost a hell of a lot of money. Don't sweat it, that engine likely costs more than your entire car or close to it.

Oh yea dude, of course! Take a look at the GTR, thats a 3.8L twin turbo v6(530hp),....car's pulling off 11.1 at the track stock. Not bad for a 90k car lol.

I love high revving motors. I wonder what would need to be done to turn a L99 into a high revving V8. I wouldn't mind a 9k RPM limit. :0)

the Porsche 3.8 L is around 30k dollars depending if you want the 380HP or 450HP variant.

the engine is a flat 6. so the "vee angle" is 180 degrees. here's some stuff for you to read up on.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat-6

the one of the advantagse of a flat 6 is that the engine is naturally balanced which allows it to safely have that 8k+ rpm redline, compared to the ~7k Redline of the camaro V6.

Not a straight 6. Porsche = boxer engine also known as flat or H (horizontally opposed).

Coincidentally, my car also has an H4

Because they do. Check out the new 3.6 liter V6 in the Panamera(it'a now in many other Porsche's as well), it makes 290 lb-ft of torque and is basically 3/4 of their 4.8 liter V8.
