2015 Coyote 5.0...
Well guys, what do you think? I've been doing quite a bit of research these past couple days on the improved drivetrain for the 2015 stang... what it pretty much turns out to be, is the boss 302 motor in a nutshell with a few improvements IMO

I think If you take a 2014 Mustang GT, add 25-35 HP + more RPM, subtract 200 pounds you will have a car that runs 11 second quarter miles stock.
And you can be sure the new Mustang IRS and chassis will even or better Camaro handling. It's a good time to be a car nut.

Its a matter of time until the cafe regulations and political bs make pony/muscle cars a thing of the past. Enjoy it my fellow 1le brethren. Won't be around for ever.

I'm very excited for the hi-po version of the new Mustang. With an IRS, the Mustang can finally become a world class "sports" car. If it's really good, I may just trade my 1LE for one.

I love the Boss, and really struggled with the decision between it and the 1LE, have you read the Boss forums? They love the car, but all have serious issues with the clutch/gearbox/car going into limp mode at the track etc... They still retain there resale value though and if I were to never track it, I would have gone that way, the Camaro is a cheaper platform to start with now and i bet the gearbox is still an issue when pushed hard since they are using the same unit. Having IRS will help it on the road racing tracks.

The new 5.0 looks like 450+ hp to me. Looking forward to seeing the Mustang weigh in.

In other note... I came across this earlier tonight, and found it pretty interesting. The 2015 test mule appeared to be a 2013/2014 body on top of the completely re-designed drivetrain and chassis. http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91

According to Edmunds the new mustang will not be lighter at all, in fact they say it will be heavier than the current.
http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/f...irst-look.html "Weight reduction measures have been minimal. Aluminum fenders replace the current car's steel, but otherwise the 2015 Mustang employs a steel-intensive unibody construction. Ford's lips are sealed regarding curb weight other than to point out that the new car has a lot more feature content than the old car, which is code for "It's heavier." Our guess is that the new car will gain about 100 pounds, which would place the GT model in the low 3,700-pound range." |
