That is what I expexged. A LOT of ford follower thought it wouod be 200# lighter. I have no idea how they could think this is possible to match the weight of a Corvette.

"Weight reduction measures have been minimal. Aluminum fenders replace the current car's steel, but otherwise the 2015 Mustang employs a steel-intensive unibody construction. Ford's lips are sealed regarding curb weight other than to point out that the new car has a lot more feature content than the old car, which is code for "It's heavier." Our guess is that the new car will gain about 100 pounds, which would place the GT model in the low 3,700-pound range."
Yes that makes sense. I am looking around for any info directly form Ford and I have not found anything on weight reduction. We can dream I guess.

I agree, I have been saying the same thing for a long time. One of two things would be NECESSARY either the mustang would need to be downsized by quite a bit or extreme light weight parts would need to be used which would drive cost up by an large margin. The great thing about the mustang and camaro is that they are affordable, if prices are driven up they are getting away from their niche.

I think the performance segment will continue, just not with the types of powertrains offered today. From strictly a performance standpoint, as much as I love the sound of a V8, give me an AWD electric performance car and I'll likely wipe the floor with a similar gasoline-powered car. That tech still has a long way to go, but it's getting better every day.

Saw this on another site. Other than the shape of the side glass shape toward the rear, I don't see it at all.

Oh, Dang! Thanx! I wanted to upload the Honda accord coupe but left it along. But yea, it's just the side profile of the 15 mustang that reminds me of the accord. You're too nice! Nothing but

now this I did not know... haha. supposedly the 6th gen Camaro will shed some decent weight according to the rumors. Considering they are downsizing the 6th gen, I believe this goal will be very achievable. The Camaro performs great as big as it is today, just imagine how it'll do a couple hundred pounds less, on an all new chassis!

At least the Mustang will no longer be a track car with a straight axle.
I guess Mustang owners can applaud Chevrolet for that.

Here is hoping Ford upped the bar enough for Chevrolet to come back with something even better.

BTW, the back of that Mustang looks bad. Perhaps in person it will look better.

I don't care much for the front end. It looks like a catfish IMO.

Good looking car. I had a 2003 GT that I sold for a 2005 GTO... the stick axle was not cutting it for me on the street. Ford might entice me back depending on how good it turns out.

Don't like the looks at all. Engine sounds meaner than hell but it looks not like a muscle car. In fact I think some imports look more like muscle than that. And don't get me started on the rear end...

I think I'm one of the few that actually likes the look of the back of the 2015 Mustang. The only thing I don't like is the hood.

I agree. Almost some similarities when you look head on.
