Okay, I guess my OS isn't capable of being upgraded: Clicked the HP OS icon and all the 1, 2, 3, 1 enhanced buttons on the VCM tab were greyed out. There went an easy 2 credit sale for HPT.

I probably should've got EFI Live way back when, and may still do it if I deviate from my big cube NA path. Things run good, so I'm not complaining.

here is a vid on how to do the conversion:

right click and save as works best, it is 27mb:

if your os isnt covered yet you can just load a os to your ecm that is supported, there are ways to do this for free is you have a friend at gm, or you can find another file from someone else, but it would cost credits to load it

did you get the latest beta from hpt, they are adding new o/s all the time

Yeah, just loaded the latest beta (2.23.373?) and the one Camaro E38 that's in there does not have the rescaled ECT table or any of the VE tables.

here is a file i had saved from another car, i just opened it and applied the new os and re-named it and saved it, you can see the new tables now, un zip the file first then open it with hpt and you will see the new fan table and ve table and all the others
Attached Files
File Type: zip 2010 camaro custon os.zip (2.75 MB, 179 views)

Thanks, I spent the 2 credits and the fan and VE tables popped up.

Now, hopefully my ECU doesn't turn into a brick when I load this <crosses fingers> ...but first I need to copy over my changes.

since you will be using another file id just turn off the vats 1 and 2 under the os general tab, before you write the new file that way you wont ever have to mess with the vats, and make sure to populate the ve table then do a write entire

with the vats turned off the car really wont care what it has for ecm to run,, i have a 2009 truck e38 ecm that i was messing with for flex fuel , i just turned off the vats and coppied over most of my file tables and it starts and runs fine even with the truck vin still in the ecm ( if only the truck and car fuel gauge segments would interchange, id have a functioning flex fuel camaro)

wow, I've been at it for about a half hour. File compare is still showing alot of changes I need to bring over.

One thing concerning me are the throttle area tables (Map A, B, and C). Specifically, the table labels (pedal position in %) are not quite the same. Did you keep the original COS tables here or did you interpolate throttle area across pedal position % to get approx the same map surfaces?

Also, the spark tables look vertically compressed...as if the vertical axis is really 2x what it reads (ie, spark at the 1.0 g/cyl row is really what is shown near the 0.48/0.52 g/cyl rows.)?

Okay, I'm not an automatic, and when loading it errors out saying something about the TCM...which makes sense since manuals dont have them.

Last post from me for this thread, and I sincerely apologize to the OP for the hijack.

Custom OS worked for me by:

1. Using 4 credits which is $200 (actually 8, so $400 since I originally tried this on a A6 file, but I guess I'm inadvertently doing my best to help that Chicago economy, eh?! Sigh...maybe I should've got EFI Live to begin with, but it was a puzzle and I couldn't stop till I fixed it or broke it.)
2. Using a manual tranny file (since I'm M6)
3. Following camaro1's advice in posts 46, 47, and 49
4. Doing a file compare with my last good known *.hpt file and setting differences "= 0" which sets the table in the custom OS to the values in your last tune. This takes awhile if you're tune has alot of changes. Mine did since Tony of Tuners Inc modified some 6 tables to get my car to idle right and then I adjusted even those slightly.
5. The only slightly tricky part was the one throttle area table which had different horizontal labels. Just click on the title of the label, another small table comes up allowing the user to change the label values.

Result, while I'm still runing MAF-only, I've got 2, 2.5, 3, whatever bar MAP capability, VE tunability should I ever feel the need, and that wonderful ECT table with the extended 163F table!

In the end, OS ID# 12637084 seems usable with this custom OS.

Big thanks to camaro1. (HPT should, in fact thank him, or at least split the $400 in credits I spent getting the COS to work.)

Doing some reading before making the jump...I'm somewhat computer savvy, but have never messed with anything tuning-wise...would like some tuning software for our 2010 LS7/A6 based Camaro. The question is: Efi Live or HPTuners?

There's a slim chance we would use it on our Duramax trucks as well, but we're basically concerned with the Camaro for now...our Camaro currently has an HPTuners tune in it from last summer, if we went EfiLive could we use the HPTuners tune at all?

As long as its not a custom HPtuners operating system, you can pull the program and modify with EFIlive no problem.

If you would like a quote on an EFIlive V2 setup, PM me.
