jBA short headers require one plug wire to be longer than the rest due to the design of the piping. The set comes with the wire you need. But come time to change them you just cannot use an entire set from anyone. I had to buy an MSD custom length kit just so I don't have wait and order that one wire. That's my only issue with them. Dougthorley doesnt have this issue I believe.
Either way you go like everyone previously stated. HF cats are highly recommended . |

I just had jba shortys installed last week...with solo hi flow cats and magnaflow competition exhaust I must say I really like the sound. It has a throatier sound Just before the install I took the car down a side road for some hard runs. Then to the shop...after the install I took the car down the same road....I was not trying to convince myself it was different. I have to say the butt dyno told me it does pull harder..I'm not sure about power gained but just the driving experience tells me there is a difference. I think the hi flows really help.

I just bought JBA shortys and will be installing them soon. I have to meet California emissions so I had to have a CARB legal header and no other company has this. Long tubes are definitely out of the picture from an emissions compliance stand point. Plus these will add a little better look under the hood compared to the ugly manifolds and heat shields.

I have jba shorties and hiflows. Those and the tune netted 32 rwhp. Freinds with same and done at same shop in same range. The tune is about 12 hp, the shorties and hiflows about 20

Naturally aspirated, Padre did calculate that his shorties were good for about 19hp. This was after he had previously done mid pipes which he calculated were worth a lil bit more than 23hp
*These were not dyno results but Padre's calculations based on his times & mph at the track. Last edited by RichP; 11-13-2013 at 01:29 PM. |

I have to say I was very happy with the JBA shorties, but there does come a point when you outgrow them. They performed well despite the naysayers up to and including the blower. Padre |

And BTW, my spreadsheat is MY experience only. Not making any claims, but I am pretty good at the track and I know when something works and doesn't work, and the performance is THERE. And that was WITHOUT an engine tune (I did tune the tranny).
Put it this way, if the shorties did not perform, you've got to explain how I ran 12.1 with basically a TC, 18" DR's and CAI only. I mean, I know I am a one of the most awesomest driver's you'll ever meet, but even *I* am not that good. (j/k ) Padre |
