SC pulley change on a ZL1
I was told that the blower has to be 70% disassembled to change the pulley on the ZL1 super charger. Is this true?
The pulley looks to be pressed on , nice move GM, but there appears to be room to use a puller to remove it. I suppose the issue is getting the new pulley back on, since it needs to be pressed on. A little oil and a hillbilly press (a.k.a., hammer) won't work?Tips appreciated! |

Yes this is basically the same setup as a CTS-V.. We remove the supercharger at the split between the S/C and the intercooler/heat exchanger. Then it gets pressed off, new pulley on, into the bridgeport for the 2 pin holes drilled/pressed-in, and then back onto the vehicle!
If you are uncomfortable performing the actual pulley swap, and the drilling, you can send us your front snout with parts (Or we can provide parts) to complete the installation. We do this all the time for the ZR1's, CTS-V's and the ZL1's. |

Oh it takes some pressure to get it off.. I'd say we've done 100+ of them on the V's and maybe 3-5 of the pulleys are somewhat salvageable after removal. Not like they would ever go back on, but they do get quite mangled to remove and there is not much of an edge to press it off to begin with.
