PICTURES OF MY HOME CINEMA :)
So I built a cinema in my home just to save money going to the cinema lol!
Well this took me 40 days and 40 nights to set up from scratch. This room was our snooker/pool playing room but I got bored with it and I decided to put a bit more excitement into the room. The screen is 12 feet horizontal (160inch diagonal). The picture quality is second to none. The Digital Laser Projector I got is a high end Optoma with the professional colour flywheel inside by Texas Instrument. It’s the same technology inside as the projectors in your local cinemas which enable 16.7million TRUE colour instead of the usual interpolated colour. The picture and sound quality is BETTER than your Odeon Cinema and everyone that has been here will testify to that. Probably cos there is such a shorter distance to travel etc. The colours are so vivid and life like its hard to not feel the actors are not there. The other day I was watching Dawn of the Dead and I screamed like a lil girl ( and I never do that ever) cos it was so realistic happening right in front of you, and the bass is like someone taking a baseball bat to your stomach! LOVE IT! The speakers are 7.1 speaker system with the rear speaker just behind your neck. OMG when you watch a scary movie, you can FEEL the voice breathing down your neck from behind in scary scenes. The sub is a 12” sub by Velodyne and shakes the room and all the seats. For the projector, I custom made sliding rails just so that I get to fit the picture frame EXACTLY to the screen else it annoys me. The other benefit is that because the system set up allows ANY DVD format from ANY country in ANY region to be played (yes the players are chipped) the picture frame is slightly off as every country employs slightly different aspect ratios for widescreen, but with the rails it so easy to adjust. There is a false ceiling to hide all the monster cabling too. All the seating recline to how you want it! To give you some idea of the picture quality, I took a snap of Harry Potter with my kid standing next to the screen. This is a low light grainy camera pic, so you can imagine what the picture quality is like for real. There is no pixelisation. Bring the popcorn!!! Anyway, I thought you share with you.

Nice work. I am waiting for my house with a basement to put in a setup like this. Did you install the Levitron remote control dimmable light switch? If not, spend the money and put one in. I think they are less than $50 and can be integrated with most high end remote controls.

Not bad, Very similiar to mine except my screen tucks away when not in use, my equipment is installed in a flush mounted cabinet and I have stadium seating.
I'll load a few pics later. Here are a few photos of the theater and game room. I just completed the game room last week and still need to touch up a little. Theater is currently 7.1, 1080i(due to projector), Blu-ray, Wii, NFL Sunday ticket Superfan, all the essentials....... BTW - I did all the work!! Last edited by RallyFever; 03-28-2009 at 02:55 PM. RallyFever, I like it! My screen is there permanently for two reasons.
1. You cant get a 160 inch with a drop down. (also drop downs are not entirely FLAT and curve at the corners and it bugs me. 2. My room is ONLY for the cinema so I just saved money fixing it as its a Draper screen and costs as much as some pay for a used car!! I dont let Anyone near it, Im ver protective of the screen as its a custom install and it would kill me to change it cos someone marked it! Its MINT and its staying that way. lol PS: I love the movie reels hanging on your wall... where did you get them please.
