TRUE cold air intake

Is there a TRUE cold air in take yet for the SS? All the one I have seen have been terminated in the engine compartment. I am looking for on that goes DOWN to the bottom of the car, perferably with a "ram air" type scoop in front of the air cleaner.

And before someone starts complaining about water getting in the air cleaner, I would like to say that is something I will deal with.

Hoping for real carbon fiber for the down tubeing and the ram air box.
Could be alumium though.

Thanks!

The 4th gen Camaro had an excellent design, I hope it returns one day on the 5th gen. But for right now the Vararam, looks to be a winner once the bugs are worked out.

I am looking at the fastlane cai and the bwoody ones. the only problem is they both do not come in true carbon fiber piping. just spoke with fastlane and they just have a carbon fiber print on theirs.

Any one know of any others?

Sounds like you are looking for the Fastlane cold air intake.

I've got a Roto-Fab CAI and have been monitoring my intake air temperature via a Diablo Trinity. The intake temperature is almost never over 2 degrees above ambient when your moving. Unless, you can find a CAI with VERY well insulated piping, I don't think you're going to get any benefit from it sucking underneath the car. Just my $.02.

The intake air temp when not moving can be a big deal if your drag racing.
Sitting on the line with high intake temps can hurt your power.

Only one unit had no increase in IAT ... a very important part of making power that is often overlooked in these comparisons.
