Our goal was to highlight the performance potential of the GM Performance Parts LSA crate engine.

If my wife doesn't want the Camaro as a driver I will pull the LSA and re install the LS3. I will save the LSA for another project

Very cool! Is the car meeting your expectations? Also what was the weight of your LSA Camaro?

As most of you know, the 2011 GT500 has the all aluminum block from the Ford GT. It is currently producing a rated 550HP but that is probably slightly underrated - it is putting down over 500HP to the rear wheels according to numerous reports.

Don't expect the new Z/28 (and I am a huge fan having owned numerous F-Bodies over the years) to have much more than 565-575HP, if that.

My best guess is around 555 - 560 HP. Why? Chevrolet is not going to outshine the Z06 (which will kill the Z28 on power to weight) nor especially the ZR1. No matter how much we want, beg, plead, threaten, or otherwise try to get a monster Z28 GM has to sell other cars.

Oh, and pricing? It's not going to matter at first because dealers will be gouging the buyers astronomically with their greedy 'Market Adjustment' moves. But don't look for a Z28 to be any less than ~$50k MSRP given what the blower and suspension packages are going to cost as well as how it will compete price-wise with the CTS-V.

Just my two cents but I'm betting I'm not far off... either way, BRING ON THE Z!

4080 pounds with me in the car. That is with the 18" ZO6 rear wheels and Mickey Thompson radials. With the 20" wheels and Nittos it is 4100 pounds with me in the car.

If it hits as the Z28, I can forsee it going for around the same price as the CTS-V coupe, especially with dealer markups.

the cts v is a luxury sports car though. there going to be priced high. i think its going to be sold less, u have to look at the lenginfelter camaros what r they priced at, surly the z28 wont be higher then them. i say it will be around 40-45k for a z28. just my .02

It's with him in the car...assuming he doesnt weigh 100 lbs....that really isnt too bad of a weight for a s/c'd car. The Gt500 weighs 3820 so if we are just 100lbs heavier...we are in good running I believe. However I'm guessing the weight difference might be closer than that.

Yes, but has Robin commented on any strengthened powertrain parts except the 4L80-swap? I suspect Z28 is going to get stronger/heavier drive and axleshafts, pushings, brakes, differential, and maybe even cradles. I'd love to be wrong

There is a lot of weight to be lost in the dual keg muffler set up of an exhaust on the SS too. I'm guessing it will even out.

i would think it would be under the CTS-V in price, after all loaded SS's are cheaper than most CTS'.
i have no doubt if Chevrolet fully explores the possibilities of the Camaro chassis, and engine, they can outdo the GT500.

not sure if anyone mentioned it but that is actually a 2011 mustang i believe. from what the wheels look like anyways. Which is a good thing because the 2011 is obviously better than the 2010 so they are shooting to be better than that.

I hope it does. It'd be nice to see some more aluminum in the chassis

I never noticed that Good catch!

I'm not seeing the rocker molding changes that someone (maybe not here) mentioned they saw I'm more curious of the hood, though. It seems to be softer than LT/SS
