Moroso Air-Oil Separator Catch Can @ Phastek Performance
2010-2012 Camaro Moroso Air-Oil Separator Catch Can #85487
Moroso Air-Oil Separator is plumbed into a vehicle’s PCV system and captures the excess crankcase vapors and the residual oil mist from reentering the intake tract. Vehicles from the factory vent these excess crankcase vapors and residual oil right back into the intake manifold which could cause detonation and oil deposits to form in the intake tract, including the valves themselves. Ethanol enriched fuels put off more moisture during the combustion process - the Moroso Air-Oil Separator is an excellent tool for collecting this extra moisture. Billet Aluminum body is available either with raw or black anodized finish 4.5" tall by 3.75" (clamp installed) diameter body, fits in more places than our standard air-oil separators Supplied 3/8", 90º inlet & outlet fittings and 36" of 3/8" rubber hose Includes a billet aluminum mounting clamp The two piece body of the Air-Oil Separator unscrews for cleaning and draining From LSXTV.com: Just as the name implies, Air-Oil Separators are plumbed directly into the your vehicle’s PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system to capture any and all excess crankcase vapors and the residual oil mist from re-entering the intake tract. This is of particular issue as factory vehicles are commonly set up to vent these excess vapors and oil back into the intake manifold, leading to detonation and the forming of oil deposits in the intake and valve areas. In addition, any ethanol-enriched petroleum fuels that you may use exert more moisture during the combustion process – moisture that an Air-Oil Separator can collect. Certainly, if your goal is high performance and reliability, this is something worth addressing, and one of the industry’s premier manufacturers of such products is Connecticut-based Moroso Performance Products, which maintains a number of Air-Oil Separators in their product catalog for a range of vehicles. These units feature attractive-looking billet aluminum bodies in raw or black anodized finishes and come supplied with inlet and outlet fittings and plenty of rubber hose to plumb into your PCV system. the necessary hardware and brackets are also included as part of the kit. I have one of these. Excellent product and great quality.
This is my 2nd. time draining it out the device; This is what I found after approx. 2.5k/kms., some oil and lots of liquid from condensation. |

Who, knows, who cares. I have Moroso it works great for me. See my pic above. If the RX catches 1 drop of oil or moisture, more or less who cares? I chose Moroso because it's tried and true product that has gone on many vehicles of all makes and models not just the Camaro. And, I take all the hype on this board with a grain of salt because most of it comes from vendors who are simply attempting to sell product by saying another product was tested, and did / didn't work depending on who they have alliances with. Speak to your shop ask them the relevant questions then make your own decision based on your style, what you want your vehicle to look like and if you can get one in your hands to compare that's even better. My shop has used both products, and tested both, and we chose Moroso. I trust my shops judgement more than I do feedback from some vendor on this site, so Moroso is good enough for me. |
