Matte hoods on Alaskan state troopers

Hey guys, iv been stalking the 1le sub forum for a month now and just cant wait to get mine (havent ordered or anything yet but should happen this year) and iv noticed a lot of hesitation and uncertainty regarding the matte hood. Iv been watching Alaskan State Troopers on netflix and noticed that all their squad vehicles have a matte wrapped hood. So in my mind they must be pretty durable to withstand the alaskan environment, or else they wouldnt keep putting them on there. Just a thought i wanted to share. What do yall think? I hope this helps with anyone questioning the hood wrap

They may be using them to cut the glare on the hood of the patrol cars. It probably gets very hard on the LEO's when the sun is up 20 hours a day.

They probably get re-wrapped on a regular basis too, or when they get damaged.

That is the reason for matte hoods in the first place.
Came from racing and was a way to cut glare.

This is why it is on the 1LE (track car).

That's also why its kind of funny to see people paint their hoods glossy black...

Google "p47 mustang pics"Airplanes have had matte black "hoods" since the '40s to reduce glare.

Back in the day, it was rattle cans of flat black, a roll of masking tape, and a determination to never, ever wax it.

Kind of neat to see it again and on a car with the right intent.
