Stop complaining about your gas mileage!!
Not trying to offend anyone here, or start an argument...
But damn people, seriously stop b*tching! Y'all don't know how good you really have it. I drive a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it's still in great running condition. 19 gallon tank...same as Camaro and use 87 octane. I get 16 MPG's average driving like a grandma. I never accelerate over 2000rpm to help conserve as much gas as possible. The tach on the Jeep goes all the way up to 6 or 7 thousand rpm so I'm revving about as low as I can without creeping down the road. Its a straight six 4 liter with probably under 200hp but I'm not positive. I'd kill for a 312hp v6 Camaro that gets 19-20 with aggressive spirited driving. It upsets me to see people complain about there mileage or constantly ask if there getting good mileage or if somethings wrong with there car. I'll gladly trade with you if your not happy with your gas mileage. Drive my gas whore of a Jeep for a week and watch how fast you crawl back to your Camaro's. And the same goes for the V8 guys. There getting the same mileage as me while still being able to have fun with their cars. Which would you rather have? ~200hp or under Jeep, slow (almost creeping acceleration) with 16 MPG or 426hp Camaro and having a damn good time driving it and getting the same kind of mileage. I know which one I'd choose! I'm not angry or bashing anybody that has brought up this topic before, but I just think maybe you guys are expecting too much from your cars. There not Honda's or grocery getter's. There sports cars and get, IMHO, phenomenal gas mileage. I say this because some people have gone from cars like a malibu or honda or some other fuel efficient car, and you've been spoiled to the point that you don't realize just how lucky you are to have an amazing performing machine such as the Camaro. /rant On a lighter note, I love my Jeep, but I cannot continue to feed this fat whore of a vehicle. Your a lucky bunch of guys, enjoy it! P.S. CAMARO RULEZ!!! |

I'm kind of in the same boat.
My 3.8 only gets like 14 mpg, and it's really starting to hurt at the pump when I fill up every couple of weeks. I kind of drive like a grandma, but I'll admit to having my fun when appropriate. Hopefully some new spark plugs and a break from driving to school (in the hills) will help it during the summer months.

what is the point of this thread? lol... I've seen people just figuring out ways to get better Gas mileage... is that a crime? that doesn't mean we are whining or anything. We just like driving a COOL car, but with better gas mileage =D. Of course we would drive a Camaro over the jeep... but we'll never want to stop saving money =o

yeah... Penny's got a 26gal tank, a 93/91 tune, & i only get about 15-16 in town & 17/18 on the highway. it pains me to hear people with cars complaining about gas mileage in the 20s
trying to find ways to get better is one thing, but complaining is annoying

If your speaking of some other vehicle, then the best of luck to you. Hopefully those things will help, sometimes these older vehicles just need a little TLC. I've noticed I get slightly better mileage when my Jeep gets a fresh oil change. |

I totally agree i've never bought a car because of gas mileage if you are worried about that there are plenty of cars out there to choose from and the Camaro is not it! all though I pleased with my mileage

Amen brutha! I love driving a "big" vehicle, so I can see down on the ground from a high vantage point. It just sucks that there's a hefty price to pay for that :( |

@RunningOnEmpty - you actually seem to have it pretty good!
I currently drive an 06 Jeep Commander Limited with the 5.7 liter HEMI. I average about 12.6mpg. Now that is sucky gas mileage. I have a 2011 Camaro SS on order, and the mpg increase will be very welcome to me!
