JG has low levels of detergents because detergents fight against the zinc. What I will be doing is changing the filter every 2500 miles and the oil at every 5000. PM heading your way. We can cut a break to forum members. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |

Just wanted t bump this up for anyone who may be interested in the driven ls30 oil, I found a place local to me that charges less than $8.50 a quart so check your local dealers on the driven racing oil site.

Bob the oil guy did the testing you're looking for. Whether his testing is proper or not I dont know. Im going to run the ls30 and then send it out for analysis to see if its working. $8 a qt isnt much more than conventional vr1 though so its worth a shot imo

What do you guys think about penzoil platinum 5w-30? I have been using that no problem for close to 2000 miles after cam swap.

There's only one way to cool your oil. That would be a external oil cooler. Many shops well them.

PP is as good or better than many of the other synthetics.

This guide to Mobil 1 oil products helps with zinc content and other properties of the Mobil 1 lineup. Hope this helps!

I'm an Amsoil dealer so I run Z-rod in my cammed car. Of course with the Amsoil oil filter that only needs to be replaced every other oil change!

I switched to driven ls30. My motor is cammed. This was done since I broke a valve spring with regular synthetic. Not sure it was the cause, but the springs only had 6k on them. New cam, new double springs, and break in additives for first 300 miles. I then switched.
Statistics on the ls30 seemed better than RP unless you look at the HPS version. Cost is always a factor, but a little searching found ls30 around $9.90/qt. All good synthetics are going to be in this range if not more. The key is the zinc and phosphorous coating the valve train. My 2 cents and I am no expert just what I have read around the forums. |
