Weird rubbing issue
Hello everyone,
So I upgraded to the brembo brakes. Everything went on good bit as I was driving, for some reason there is this rubbing sound while I drive on driver rear. It sounds as if the brake dust pan was rubbing but I jacked the car back up and the cut dust pan/shield is not rubbing. It almost sounds as if the pads are rubbing. I did spray the center hub with galvanizing paint to avoid rust and the rotors with anti sound spray but I would think when I drove it would remove from pads hitting rotor. Any ideas what it could be? I plan on just taking it to the shop and have GM take a look on a lift. Any ideas would help |

Wheel fitment? Perhaps the wheels will not accommodate the the larger Brembos?
Double check that dust shield... I recently had a similar issue with my wife's Suburban. I think I took that wheel off five times, trying to locate the source of the noise, before I was finally able to discover a very lightly rubbed/ worn area on the dust shield. I bent it out of the way, and we've had blissful silence ever since. However, that thing fooled me for a long time, thinking that it was NOT the cause (and... on another vehicle... I once installed that dust shield backwards.... THAT was a lot of noise, there). Make sure that the wear indicator/ squeal strips on the brake pads are not bent out of place. That's it... tapped out on ideas! |
