MPP vs GMPP

I purchased my ZL-1 vert 2 months ago and requested the GM extended warranty. I received some information and a card in the mail recently from MPP about my warranty. I assumed that they were simply the company that GM contracted for their warranty. I come to find out that they are actually a 3rd party and that the GM warranty is GMPP and not MPP. Does anybody know what the difference is between the MPP and GMPP and what I should do? My initial thought it to call the dealership but I would like to better understand the difference between the 2 first so I can be better informed when talking to them.

GMPP is a Service Contract offered by the GM Motorist Insurance Corporation that may be purchased from any GM dealer any time during the new vehicle limited warranty period. This is not a warranty and is designed to cover costs of repairs beyond the manufacturers original warranty.

There are different levels of the GMPP service contract; I can check your VIN to make sure if you have this or not.

No need to check, I am sure it is the MPP that I have. Unfortunately I had no idea when I purchased it that I even had an option to purchase something other than the GM plan(haven't purchased a new car since my 02 SS and assumed that MPP was simply the name of their plan; in fact I requested the GM protection plan and wasn't presented with any options other than term and deductible). Anyways, just spoke with the dealership and they are going to cancel the MPP and sign me up for the GMPP. They apologized if there was any misunderstanding and said it would be rectified. Can't ask for much more.

That's great that they got you on the right plan now. Thank you for the update.
