The L99 doesnt tend to decel pop in any noticable way unless you're in manual mode. (or when you first start the car) Not sure that the mufflers even have anything to do with that though they may make it a bit quieter.

I really wish some more people would ring in on this. I guess I'm just chicken to cut up a brand new exhaust.

Maybe disconnect the mufflers from the cats and see how it sounds, I imagine it will sound about the same as with no mufflers (unless you are not also deleting the resonator which itself is a muffler of sorts). No cutting that way at least.

I can tell you that the louder the exhaust gets the more annoying the AFM is. I have the high flow cats and they are quite loud even with stock mufflers/resonator and AFM is starting to annoy me (though turning up the radio a bit solves that)

Oh yeah!.....you'll hear it even more if you delete do a muffler-delete. I love the sound myself.

When I installed my Solo Mach X catback on my LS3 the popping became louder. Sounds like a beast during acceleration and decceleration.

I had my mufflers removed on my L99 SS and the car is still to quiet for my tastes.

No decel popping at all, and I like that sound btw and would be happy with it. As someone already said, only on startup, which seems odd to me.

My LS4 Monte does it, my SRT-4 does it, my GTO does it... my Camaro is to quiet...

I had a set of Magnaflow Street axel backs on my 2010 L99, and no popping.I put the same set on my 2011 LS3 and it pops like H_LL.

IF you only removed muffler you still have resonator and that seems to quiet things a ton. As for why it doesnt decel pop that much, it must have something to do with the way autos dont 'tranny brake' for the most part. Like on the LS3 if you just push in the clutch, no popping, but if you just let off the gas it pops since it is tranny braking.

The resonator is going to go!

my GTO and Monte SS are both autos, and they pop during decel, in fact on the GTO with the cutouts open and decel, it sounds like thunder coming down the road.

Maybe the computer has something to do with it? Could just be a programming thing that controls when it does it and when it doesnt.

I'm the strange oddball, most if not all, don't want the popping effect, I do.

When the monte goes from 4 cyclinder to 8, it sounds like a mini explosion, a very cool sound... when the Monte is in 4 mode (the monte has no center resonator or rear mufflers) its a kinda cool helicopter type chopping sound..

since I removed the mufflers on my L99 2011 Camaro, I can slightly hear when it goes into 4 cyclinder mode, and what I do hear isn't a good sound at all, for whatever reason the LS4 in the Monte sounds better.. But none the less I love the Camaro, and will live with whatever sound she makes, but she must get louder.. I want people to know, that a Camaro is next to them.

My L99 now with SOLO Cats sounds rather odd when it goes OUT of 4 cyl mode. In 4cyl its quiet but as soon as any gas is added even to maintain speed it goes into 8 cyl mode and I hear a pop/growl from the car.

I used to feel a vibration when it went in/out of AFM but now mostly just the growl when it comes out. Still no real decel popping unless in manual mode.
