I'm not much on kit cars either, but I do like that Sterling

I'm also a fan of the K1 Attack

Some years back, I was going to build a 1933 Ford three-window coupe (chevy powered of course). Glad I didn't though the company has since went out of business. But those cars are great builds along with the old Shelby 427 cobra. Word to the wise, building one of these rides could get very expensive in the long run since a lot of the parts come from donor cars or are custom crafted.

I hear Year One is a great company to go with.

Cars that go back to the middle part of the last century is their limit though, I don't think they get into the 30's custom rods-- I don't think

I'm probably waay off

That is the car that got me looking in to Kit Cars. I saw one at the D.C. Auto show that was powered by a Honda motor with 450 horsepower (turbo).
