VIR May 25/26?

Anyone going to VIR May 25/26th? It's a TCUSA / SVT Cobra Mustang Club event so there will be a LOT of 'stangs. But the timing is perfect for me and fingers crossed for good weather. Dying to test out the latest mods on an actual road course. Here's the link:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=19018

They have a shortage of instructors right now so I think the only slots open are for experienced folks who don't need anyone riding shotgun.

Pete

Today's the day - perfect weather, mid 70's, clear. Packed up the car last night to head to Danville and can't wait to get on the track this morning.

Tried uploading a video in between runs but it looks crappy to me. Very blotchy. Not sure what is up. Will try another one later. For now:

Sorry about quality

Hit 140 on the back straight and 120 on the front. Still slower in the corners than I want to be. But, it's been a great day. Here's a 2:30 run:

http://youtu.be/mDXFfjxeEuw

Roll bars and seats have me in the car like glue. It's fantastic. Gotta remember to do it all in the right order though: Neck brace, lower harness, door bar, close door, set up iphone, upper harness, helmet. It's particularly a drag when you do all that and THEN remember your key is in your pocket. Start over.

First time I have ever had the car tell me to check my cooling system, though. Coolant temp at 201. I am thinking that's not too bad, but I guess that's what you get with a supercharger.

Day has not been without incidents. A few cars have malfunctioned and in a separate incident, one guy went into the tire wall. Sadly, here are bits and pieces of his front end:

Great pictures and video. Thank you for posting. Amazing beautiful day(s) to race. Very envious.

How does that camera link into the tack course so it shows MPH / Track location? Is that your camera? Sorry for all the questions, total novice about such stuff. Would need to take a beginners class.

Car sounds fantastic.

Thanks man! It's an awesome day today too.

I am using an iPhone with Harry's Laptimer software and an external GPS. The software knows exactly where everything is (GPS locations) and does all the timing and video and overlay. It's awesome. It's also really useful for learning what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong.

Had our first run this morning, 2:29 my best time for the weekend and best time to date. 144 on the back stretch, 119 on the front, chasing an M3. Video below:

A little unplanned agricultural excursion

Went too deep in Turn 1 and my tires started slipping on the crap at the edge of the track. No damage done - surprisingly uneventful - but still earned me a talk with the track boss to make sure I wasn't losing concentration.

Last post from the track. Times keep getting better every run out. This one is 2:23 and change. So, if this is my top time of the weekend, I managed to shave 6 seconds from my best time. I'm real happy with that.

Coolant temps got up to 207 but after looking at what the ZL1 guys are reporting (240!!) and what people around here say would start to worry them (220-230) I think I am fine.

http://youtu.be/ow_VOILbkQ8

One more run today and then I'm driving home.

yeah...207 is nothing. Your driving line looked better every lap. The last video would not play for some reason.

Thanks man. It sure felt great by end of the weekend - you get into a groove and it just rocks.

Try the video again, should play? Works for me...
