Clutch sticking
There was a thread about the clutch and I can not find it now. Two days ago I did an agressive (not to agressive) launch and the clutch stuck half way up and burnt the clutch, the smell was bad. now it seems to smell all the time, there was some info to give to the dealer for a fix, anyone have this?

Take it back to the dealer for warranty (assuming you don't have any performance Mod's other than a Cold Air Intake...) There has been alot of discussion about this, mine sticks to the floor occasionally.. I just want to wear this one out before purchasing a good Twin-Disc Clutch..

Good luck. I told my dealer about the clutch sticking on my Camaro, and since they could not reproduce it, they were...'SORRY, nothing we can do for you, can't make it happen'. Mine has happened to me twice so far.

I'm glad of the good relationship I have with my service guy. Got my new clutch the week before last The service guy could NOT reproduce it - took my word.
Good luck! Oh, there are multiple clutch issues threads

Just got back from the second dealer to make an appointment. The first one said to drive it until it breaks, then call a tow truck. Morons! Yeah... that's what I want from a service department. |

Catch me if you can
|
I have had mine to the local dealership 3 times for this issue, I finally got word from GM that if I can't reproduce the issue with a tech in the car, they would not replace, look at or even dig deeper into my clutch problem.
It seems like GM has dug is heals into the ground on this problem and they wont move an inch.

Probably cheaper to fight the problems rather than fix them, this is what causes customers who are brand loyal to switch brands. Mine is effected by this and I am just waiting to see if GM does the right thing. If not my next car will be something other than a Chevy. I have had it in the shop and heard the same song and dance.

Corvettes also have problems with the clutch staying on the floor if you do not keep the clutch fluid clean.
The slave cylinder design is such that if you do high RPM shifts that generate a lot of clutch dust, the dust gets past the seal and into the clutch fluid. Just a few passes and the clutch fluid is black. I would first make sure the clutch fluid is clean, and it is not a problem with fluid contamination. |
