Got a new nationwide Camaro today
I recieved my diecast of Dale Jr's Hellmann's Nationwide Canaro and I had a couple observations about it.
Back when they showed the first pictures of the 2014 Camaro I posted a picture of the Nationwide Camaro and noted that the grill opening was exactly the same shape as the 2014, I said it was probably based on the 2014 so they wouldn't have to get a new nose approved by NASCAR next year. Well not only does this diecast have that it also has the hood indention like the 2014 SS air extractor. I don't know if the actual race car has this hood but I will watch tonight's race and see if I can tell. All they will need to do next year is change grill decals, tail light decals, rear diffuser decal and fog light decals then add the air extractor decal and they have a 2014 Camaro Nationwide car. I did some looking at some actual Nationwide race cars and if you look closely you can see the outline in the hood where the air extractor is on the 2014 SS.

What would be cool is if they came up with decal packages for not only the SS/RS but the SS non RS, the Z/28 and the ZL1...let each team decide what package to run each week.

Watching the race right now and from the roof cam on the Camaros you can make out the air extractor character lines just like on the 2014 hood. I think that is very interesting myself.

Good eye. I never really looked closely at the Nationwide NASCAR Camaro because it is not related to the production Camaro. However, I see your point on the front bumper and hood. They have styling cues from the 2014 Camaro. I'm pretty sure NASCAR had insight from GM on the projected 2014 Camaro design. This way they just have to replace the grille, headlight, and taillight decals for 2014.

I doubt it was NASCAR inspired but racing in general inspired. I do believe that GM submitted the Camaro Nationwide car design based on the 2014 Camaro design that was pretty much set in stone at that time. Getting it approved a year early saved cost, replacing decals is much cheaper than a new nose and hood design and approval by Nascar.
