2013 ZL1 Convertible Allocation - Status?

On July 12, my dealer placed order for 2013 ZLI convertible, based on the allocation they received of 2-cars. Now the dealer can not get any answers. I actually talked with another dealership that has an allocation of 2-cars, also no word. Went to a third dealer and they immediately said they have no information available on the 2013 convertible ZL1......

Originally I was told the mid-september, august. Now we are way past that.

Does anyone have any idea as to the status of the ZL1 convertibles and where Chevrolet stands on releasing the orders.

Thanks.

My dealer ordered my 2013 ZL1 convertible on 7/31/2012

When I checked the Order Tracking on 9/25/2012:
http://www.chevrolet.com/order-tracking.html

It still shows: Order Placed
Apparently it takes 3-4 months for the vert orders to process all the way to: delivered to dealer.

Maybe Becky can shed more light on why the 2013 ZL1 convertibles are taking so &%$#* long to be produced after the initial order ?

Just spoke to a dealer in Scottsdale that has one for sale. There is also one near me, in Plano for sale. Not quite the car I wanted so I gonna wait. I suspect it won't be long before more dealers have unsold units.

if your at 1100 your nowhere basically. until you hit 2000 don't hold your breath on anything. find out when the DSOP cycles are and if you next in line for that allocation.

after that things will move like clockwork if nothing is on contraint.

if that didnt' sound like english search those terms.

to make a short story long until the dealer uses their allocation and you move into scheduling you just have a number no parts are being ordered, noting is being scheduled. I sat from nov to may of last year @1100 and ended up getting a 2013 instead.

I ordered mine ZL1 Vert on 7/9, and it's been at the dealer for 1 week as of today. I pick it up on Saturday. I have navigation and CF hood, and probably some other stuff in short supply. (not to mention the 650 HP upgrade, kidding)

Vert allocations are very rare. I read somewhere that many dealers shouldn't expect a vert allocation, just coupe. The fact your dealer says he has two, makes me a little nervous for you. (But I don't know LOTS about this, so don't panic over my post)

once it moves off of 1100, it moves pretty darned fast. My dealer set the expectation of a Dec/ Jan/ Feb delivery, so Saturday can't come soon enough.

The original Vert allocations were revealed back in the middle of June, and those allocations were to cover the period from then to Dec 31st.

My dealer got just a single Vert allocation for that period.

Come Jan 1st, the next round of allocations should be revealed.

The deal is: Dealers have allocations but it is up to GM based on some system with some type of FTC regulation regarding fair distribution of product exactly when GM will allow that dealership to use that allocation. They make ZL1's one week a month and I think the Verts are even less then that. My dealer got one allocation from August to December with absolutely no idea what month that they could use it. The dealer gets informed on the 23th of the month(i think, Becky can verify) if they can use there allocation. If they CAN use there allocation the TPW will most likely be the 3rd week of the next month.

That is my understanding how it works.

If you can find one on a showroom floor or a dealer that has the ability to actually use there allocation is your very best method of getting a car quicker.

If anyone is looking for a Vert Allocation at MSRP PM me. There are a couple of dealers near me that have allocations that will be pulled this week!

GM should be ashamed of how they have handles this! My ZL1 vert has been on order since Apr-24 and has not moved from 1100. It is with a dealer that bleeds blue for Chevy and sells a ton of Camaro's and nothing is being done! Does Chevrolet think I need my Camaro in Jan so I can't drive it in Pittsburgh? This is BS!! GM you are better than this! C'mon man!
