Question Tail lamp - Fog function.

Hello Everybody.

Regarding the tail lamp, where is the fog function?
I ask this question for to know if the homologation of tail lamp is only for America (SAE) or for Europe (ECE) too.

Thanks for your help.

The inner portion only. Technically thats all that ever lights up, but when you hit the brakes its bright enough for the entire thing to be lit.

That's not what he is talking about. European cars must have a rear foglight that is controlled by a switch inside the cabin. In reality, it is one brake light which is kept on while driving when in fog so you don't get rear ended. The North American cars do not have this function but if Chevrolet does sell the car in Europe, it will come with it, as well as rear amber signal lights.

I agree, Hylton...the individually controlled light is usually a higher wattage- brighter bulb so that it may be seen under greater cover

I know many european cars that sell here in the US/Canada have homolgonized the specs so that we have the option here. One of my pet peaves is when on a road and the guy in front of me in his Audi or Volvo has his rear foglight on and doesn't know it. It's as if he thinks that putting the foglight switch in it's second position makes the front fogs brighter or something.

Ah. Sorry, I misunderstood. I haven't a clue which light will be the fog function, in that case.

I was actually greatly annoyed by this feature in my friend's parents' Jaguar. He had the fogs on when it wasn't foggy and they were really bright when driving behind him. I guess that's one reason to only use the fogs when you need to...

The Aussies had the two seperate lenses, One amber and one red on the test cars and the black one. Would that be compliant?
