ECM will be checked, if no modification he is good!!

Oil will be checked for right type, if right weight he is good!!

Fuel will be checked, if right fuel he is good!!

Any of those 3 could mess it up, being at a car show I hope he had a locking gas cap. Someone could of dumped something in the tank which could mess up the entire deal.

Detonation and total engine destruction at only 2K RPM? Did someone pour a bunch of grain alcohol into his tank. Or ether? (aka starter fluid)

Yeah, something isn't adding up here.

NOTHING poured into gas will cause the explosion required to cause a piston like that to explode into large chunks..

I was at the dealer with Trevor yesterday. They haven't even begun to tear down anything. They have sent the data off his ECM to GM and are waiting to hear back. As long as they find that he hasn't tuned it they will ship a new motor per the Service Manager. His car has had full documented service and maintenance through this same dealer.

Solomon, somebody could have messed with his car at the Autorama overnight when we weren't there...

Actually you can't over rev on an upshift, the rev limiter reacts faster than the motor revs. You can, however, have a mechanical over rev on a downshift.

Lets hope no one messed with the car, if that was the case, a insurance claim would be in order, as that is not a warranty item.

Hope everything works out. Hate it that it happened right after a show cause you never know what could have happened there. :(

Wow that sucks. :(

I'm sure it will get fixed. I'm also sure GM will want to get that block and find out what caused it to fail. Especially if some guys name is on a plate stuck to it. <-- he might be having a worse day.

LS7s blow up all the time with people's name plate on them. They should be use to it by now.

This could have been catastrophic at highway speeds glad no one was hurt.

Congratz on getting a new motor. The clock is ticking... if they take too long to repair you can even parley it into a new car. Document EVERY conversation... now set back and enjoy your iced tea.

Wow, that is just too unfortunate, even if GM replaces the whole engine at no cost to the owner.

I would feel very sad at having spent 60k on a bleeding-edge car only to have the engine replaced after it blew up in the hood.
