Is it just me?

Is it just me or does it seem the closer I get to 1500 miles the quicker my car seems. I have by no means been overly crazy with the car but I will say I have not stayed close to the break in procedures but now with 1200 miles it just seems like my car just wants to spin the tires all the time. Riding in sport came around the corner and had my wife screaming. What a good night for ice cream.

I'm just at 1200 miles and I agree that the car feels stronger now than it did at 500 miles.
A 5mph roll in 1st gear in Sport mode used to just.....go. Now it hazes the tires and goes.

...I have posted about this phenomena several times in the past. It most definitely comes on with mileage, and the way it was broken in I believe. I experienced the exact same observation of performance "unlocking" at or about the same mileage. And I didn't baby the car prior to that point either.

I wonder if there really is something in the ECM that limits...........something.............until a certain mileage is hit?

The car is very sensitive to out side temp heat soak tire temp and road temp. If you take it for a drive on a warm day 70 or above and keep moving the car will hook fine. Stop for a few minutes and it will heat soak and feel way down on power. Take it for a ride at 60 or below and it will feel like it has 100 more hp and haze tires at will but it has nothing to do with getting stronger. It will loosen up some but it won't be a drastic or noticeable change

I followed the break-in and had the same experience, I don't think it is how you break it in, but if it is not on purpose then it could be what the engineers said about the complete driveline needing a break-in.

I'm glad you posted this, because I've been thinking this alot lately too.
I 'generally' followed the brakein procedure to 1500, with just a couple sprints to about 100, and no more than 4500 rpm.
Now after about 3 months, I am gettin into it more, and can definitely feel it be more responsive and more consistent.
It especially SHIFTS smoother, and with less 'chunk'.
Try the PTM modes, they are very interesting when driving around town, taking corners and blasting out, etc. I usually drive in 3 now, like it best. You can notice a subtle difference between them, and it lets you play with your toy more.

Hit my 1500 on Saturday, then 1600 by the end of the day. Definitely by 1200 miles it became difficult to stay within the recommended break in parameters.
