Test Drive gone wrong :(
All weekend im hyped about test drivng the Camaro, the guy emails me back and forth about be there at 1:45 Saturday. Saturday comes I get there, he says hes busy and someone else from the floor will help me. I talk to the guy he says why dont you try sitting in the car (Showroom Car) and look around. Im there having a nice time sitting inside the car taking pics get out to take more pics, more people start to show and sit in it, im waiting for about 15-20 min saying when will I be able to test drive........... I ask the guy did the guy who sent me to you tell you I was here to test drive, and he goes sorry but we only have one car and its only for the show room. At that moment I was a little pissed, being mislead about being able to test drive the car today. He took down my info to test drive the SS when it comes in, hopefully it will be some time early next week :(
heres a few pics i took, before i was let down. |

I was informed 2 weeks ago that when my dealers car came, nobody was allowed to drive it. It hasn't come in yet, and they're not sure when its coming.

So far the sales seem good for the camaro heard the salesmen say 125 people came in that day and all bought the car, they are just waiting for them to come in.

Can't really blame the guy. EVERYONE wants to test drive it, and NO ONE wants to buy a car that has been driven by anyone else. 3-4 test drives will put 50 miles on it easy, and that "new car smell" isn't so sweet anymore.

Not to defend the dealer but you can imagine for now the line to test drive these cars. You'd never have one sitting in the showroom. Not to mention that one car would rack up the miles so quickly it would have to be sold as a demo or used car. I see more and more threads everyday with other users stating the same thing. It's going to be tough getting to drive one. I was lucky I heard about the test drives going on at barrett jackson West Palm Beach. They were V6s and they rode beutifully.

I am sure I will get flamed on this on!
My dealer got their car in yesterday 1LT black with cloth gray two tone interior! I showed up and no one had driven it yet. I could have taken it for a test drive but told them no thanks. My Camaro is at 4B00 bayed so I have decided to wait to drive my own to be the first one that I drive. I did however sit in it too satisfy my worries about the sunroof and my being able to clear the roof. I am 6'-3" at ball park 225lbs. I adjusted the seat and the steering wheel. I do have to recline the back of the seat slightly, ( how I drive anyway) too my comfort and I could put my hand on top of my head and have room for it to fit. GOOD to go!!!! Now will wait and hope that the cable thing gets checked and fixed quickly and my Camaro gets shipped soon. PS I am also one of those people that told my dealer up front that they could keep mine on the show room floor for a couple of weeks when it does come in. I will be roped off and no one sitting in it however. |

Put a deposit down and set up a deal contingent on the test drive. If you are serious and not just out for a joyride you will get to drive one. Otherwise you could rent one from Avis. Dealers were not born yesterday when it comes to folk wanting to just play with no intention of buying.

My local dealer let me drive their only SS (IOM w/black stripes, RS pkg, 21" wheels, Ground Effects) only a few days after they got it!!!!
I even had a hard time sleeping the night before cuz I have waited many years for the moment that I got to drive a 5th Gen for the first time. The bad part was the $52,000 price!

flamed for what? It's your choice if you would rather leave your car there than drive it. I'm not really having an issue with my dealer but I wouldn't do it. If they needed it for the unveiling I might have but I don't have mine yet so no sense talking about that. If you want to get flamed I can help you out there.

My dealer just let me drive his 1LT tonight. I just had to try it out even though my 2SS should be here soon. I was darn impressed for a 6 cylinder!
