Will a 22x10 rim fit on a 315/25-22 tire?

Recommended tire sizes based on wheel widths are what this post is about. Short answer, NO I wouldn't recommend those widths for factory wheels.
305/35/20 on rear and 275/40/20 on front with factory wheels

What would happen....Safety wise....to big...won't fit...handling will be worst.....Rub against fender...Offset.....???

Thanks

Wheel & tires

I have A 2010 RS/SS I have lowered the car 1" front & rear.
Will the lowering affect the size of tire a want to use 165/40/20 on 8.5 front rims and 305/35/20 on 10.5 rear rims.
Thanks
Bernie

I have to admit that I need some of this rocket science training also.
Is there a formula to choosing the right combination of wheel and tire?

Cool

When replacing rear tires. It is good to remember that the new tire diameter when change your final gear ratio.

Here is the math. New tire dia divided by the old tire dia times the current gear ratio equals the new gera ratio.

30.7 divided by 28.7 equals 1.07 Times 3.42 equals 3.66 new gear ratio.

Would there be a problem putting 10" wide wheels on all 4 corners, but having 275 tires on the front and 305 or 315 on the rear? Would the different tire sizes contribute to understeer alleged to occur with staggered wheel/tire sizes? In the alternative, with the 20" X 10" wheels on all four would running 305's all around cause problems up front? Secondly, would a car lowered with coilovers be affected any differently than a stock suspension?

It is ok to run 10" tires front and back. It is not recommended as far as the rim size and tires, as they are just outside the range for 10" rims for both 275's and 315's. However, this is the exact set up I am running with the Nitto NT05's and it works for me. My car is lowered about 1.5" also. I did buy these rims to run 285's all around but couldn't find any tires in that size that I wanted to run. I think you may run into rubbing issues running a 305 up front.

the Pedders Camaro is running a Tire 305/30/19. the diameter is 26.20 inches. This changes the rear gear ratio from a 2.42 to a overall of 3.73

This works seriously well

Wow Mike, your post is confusing me.
The stock SS has 3.27 gears for the auto and 3.45 for the manual - right?
The tire size changes should produce an 26.2/28.66 or .914 factor.
So I am not following or getting the point you are making.

Would you clarify?

Thanks.

Edit --> Mike I think I figured this out, believe you have a typo.
Your tire changes should be like changing gears in auto to a 3.57 and the manual to a 3.77; correct me if I am in error.

305/30R19

The Pedders Camaro has proven to be off the charts fast on the track with RE11 Bridgestones. But we elected to go smaller on the tires.

The Pedders Camaro is running 305/30R19s, which are a 26.2in diameter tire front and rear. This has proven to be seriously successful! for multiple reason.
Just wanted to throw this numnber out into the discussion

When departing from 20 inch rims, a popular combination and being on the wide side seems to be:
Pirelli Tire 315/25-22 back and 265/30-22 front
These calculate to a 3.15 sidewall front and rear
What are people thoughts to this combination?
Pirelli Tire 315/25-22 back and 285/30-21 front

With these fronts, the sidewall increases to 3.4 (about ¼ inch more)
It may not be much, but I’m wanting a bit more in the front for our winter pothole season, plus it provides at least .6 inch more tread in the front for extra grip.
The fronts will be .4 shorter than the rears, which I belive is withing the margin.
Anyone run such a combo?
Any thoughts?
I’d consider 20’s in front and 21s rear is someone made those sizes within thin the same tire model.
(Looks like any decent wheel is a custom size anyway, so might as well match to the tire size I want.)
