GFX - GROUND EFFECTS - how low?

We are considering GFX on a 2SS but the wife says it will be too low and drag over speed bumps and dips. (we had a Sky with GFX and it did this). She doesn't want to be one of the people that come to a stop on the street to roll over a dip/bump sideways so the car doesn't scrape. Anyone has experiences to share about this? Are you regreting getting GFX? How much does it 'lower' the car? (ie. front is 2" and sides are 1" closer to the ground??????)

I have it on my car and believe it or not, it is the same height. It is an optical illusion with regard to it being lower. It does stick out farther front and back which will affect clearance in some rare situations (uphill driveway with rapid transition at street) but it is not lower than stock.

hylton- thanks for the info- as far as the sticking out farther.... I have a fairly steep driveway... I'm thinking this could be an issue... has your front scraped frequently???? every day, once a week, only occasionaly?

Never actually. I work in a downtown that has speed bumps on the main roads leading to the highway and I have never bottomed out. These speed bumps have all kinds of marks on them left from cars bottoming out. Interestingly enough, I do bottom out on the same bumps in my 2001 SS convertible.

I've had the car 5 months and have only succeeded in just barely scraping the front once......pulling out of a gas station and the left front wheel went into a pothole I didn't see.....so a 2 inch section of the air dam contacted the ground briefly....oops.....glad the scrap is out of view. They don't change height at all, and the front is maybe 2 inches longer with the GFX.

I have the factory GFX on my 2SS/RS and it is also lowered 1" via Eibach springs and i have no issues. I do watch out for those high curb stops though.

I've got over 13k miles and only hit 1 curb (bottom scraped and not visable) and 1 curb stop (same as the curb.)

Get the GXF, if your worried about scrapping, don't be.

I can't decide if leaving the front chin spoiler off looks out of place, or perfect.

Hylton is 100% correct. It is an illusion. Your car actually isn't any lower.
