My amp is fried :(

So I've been using a JBL BP1200.1 amp for the last 6 years in 2 different cars and it has always performed amazing. I go to install it today in my camaro and it bit the bullet. It has an internal short that's blowing its 3X40A fuses! Very depressing day for me today I love that amp. Luckily the distributor for JBL products in Canada is 10 minutes from my house. I have already emailed them to see what the steps I need to take to get it repaired are. I figure if it costs less than 300 bucks its worth repairing because how much does a new amp that powers a sub at 600RMS @ 4 ohms or 1200RMS @ 2 or 1 ohm cost? A lot I'm assuming.

I have one thumping away on a daily basis, as well as 2 of the full range amps in that series.

the BP series amps were ugly as sin, but they rocked in performance. definately worth trying to get repaired.

1200 rms at 4 ohm, that is a little too big lol I am only powering 1 12'' alpine type-R. That amp would destroy my sub lol

I wouldn't repair it... It would be better to get a new one with warranty etc. You just never really know when it comes to repairing stuff... What if it get's repaired them sends surges through to your subs and frys them? Once an amp goes bad i've always just turned it into a paper weight...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...5732&name=Mono

Newegg is very legit and trustworthy. Just people don't buy audio through them but those are good prices. You would just want to read reviews and see test specs on w/e amp if you were to purchase a new one...
