New GM released short throw shifter

ZL1 short-throw shifter (part number 19299460)

Would the short shifter work on the 2012 V6 Manual?

I was about to order the mgw but now I'm wondering if I should wait.

Yeah, the GM has clearly stated that this is a direct replacement to the V8 M6.

Just wondering if anyone's tried this for the V6 LFX or knows for sure that it wouldn't fit..

I hope it does, but doesn't the SS have reverse on the opposite side? Does that matter?

The housing that comes with the kit only fits the SS. But that doesn't stop you from removing the shifter itself and installing it in your car. There was one user who did this but he wouldn't give any details and hasn't been online since his post about it. I'd like to do it but after some more info or a writeup about it.

That's Controlled internally by the transmission. Not the Shifter.

Try this http://paceperformance.com/i-1308507...stitching.html

Are these as good as MGW or just a small upgrade?

Overall the quality and construction of the unit is better than the standard shifter stick that comes with the SS and V6. Which by the way are the same, the housing that bolts up to the transmission and underside of the body are whats different. Plus you get the new sued shift knob and boot. The throw is shorter too, about the same as what the factory Hurst option was but much smoother.

Great price. I was thinking of the MGW to replace my aftermarket Hurst but now I'm thinking of the ZL-1 shifter! The MGW is probably the top rated aftermarket shifter from all the reviews I've read but costs over $400. For $279 this is a much better option and it's a genuine GM part. My friend had a ZL-1 and loved the shifter! He said it was smooth and the throws were just right.
