Thumbs down UPS Strikes Again

I just bought a Maggie TVS2300 off a member on here and he had it shipped UPS. I got the package's today and the box the supercharger was in looked like it had been through hell. Broke the idler pulley and the jackshaft. Could be some more damage, I was a bit irate so I just snapped some pictures and submitted the damage claim.

Another UPS disaster, What can't Brown do for you?

S/C box is on the left.

The box went through hell, but doesn't look like a good box to ship something that heavy in.

Good luck with the claim.

I'm sorry but I cannot blame this all on UPS. That box does not look rated to hold that amount of weight, it looks too thin. If you are going to ship something that heavy, it need to be shipped in a proper box.

Good luck with claim but I think UPS is going to find the packing was insufficient.

Off course this is just my opinion.

Thats the box the sc was in when bought. And it was packed with quite a bit of cusion. We picked it up several times and tried shifting it inside box to make sure it didnt move. I can tell by pic they ran into it pretty hard with something.it was insured incase this happened. Ill put picks up in a bit of what it looked like before it shipped.

Looks like it fell off the conveyor belt at the shipping hub or got slammed repeatedly against one of the dividers or barriers.

Over weight items can get hung up pretty easy.It was shipped originally with expanding foam so impacts don't damage.

50/50 chance of winning this I would say...Good luck.

You always pay ups to box the items for you. I had a tvs get broken almost identical to the op. ups won't pay for anything they don't box which they won't admit .. Cost me a lot of money to get it fixed for the guy I sold it to

have almost never recieved a ups delivery that didn't look like a punishing journey , I think they ship by throwing the box to the distination

You will find out when you go to file a claim, but my thought is that it was not packaged well enough. For instance, I am pretty sure UPS rules will say something that heavy needs double wall boxes and some many inches of a certain packaging. When we have kits come here, the boxes are pretty beat up, but the OEM packaging holds up and there is no damage. They use a lot of form fitted foam, and the box itself is bigger. This is unfortunately one of the pitfalls of buying used.

We'll see how it goes, either way it'll get fixed. I agree the box wasn't the ideal box but the packaging was good. Whether UPS pays for it we'll see. Only good part is I wasn't planning on installing it immediately anyways.

Either way no box should show up in your door step like that, but it does happen quite often.

Almost true with 3/6/12 ft conveyor drops along the way. All professional packers "pack" the item to withstand the 12 ft drop.....
