I posted earlier that the SS and RS have different master cylinder and ABS module part numbers, that's why I haven't done the swap. If you are interested, the eBay deal got even sweeter, now $699 with free delivery is the best deal I've seen yet.

Wow! that is a good deal. But, in my opinion you are really messing with safety at this point. Brembo's are not designed or tested with an RS system. Who knows how this will affect the stability control??

I wouldn't want to mess with the one thing that might save my life.

Neither are any of the aftermarket brake kits, but people put them on anyway. The SS wasn't tested with 6 piston from brakes but the hasn't stopped Pedders or SLP yet. Even GM has put Brembo's on their V6 concept cars, with no mention of changing the master cylinder.

I've driven the car hard and tried several different types of stops (hard, soft, quick, slow to quick, etc). All I've seen is a dramatic improvement in braking. RS wheels on a V6 are the same wheels on a SS and I don't think there is much difference in the master cylinder

Thats good to know... Thanks for clearing that up guys. Is the overall brake package (caliper and rotor) lighter or heavier then stock v6 brakes.

Heavier. Magazine (hot rod or super chevy) prepped an ss for drag racing. Gained quite a bit using drag light wheels and lighter brakes among other things. They either used v6 or 02 z brakes(cant remember). Others will have to chime in for actual numbers.

Yeah they're a good deal heavier however just adding the front brembo system isn't going to do much to my quarter mile time (.05 maybe) however if I track this car it will be much better. It depends what you want to know, if you're going to try and cut weight where ever possible than don't get these brembo's.

If these would fit the 18" lt rims, I would do this in a heartbeat, I contacted that ebay seller and tried for a $650 offer, they countered with the $700....glad they did cause I was going to go with it until I seen on here they don't fit under the 18" winter rims!

I have the 20" RS rims. Doesn't have anything to do with the rims. The SS Brembo rotors won't fit on the rear mounts with the dust shield there because the SS rotors are much bigger then the V6 rotors. You either need to remove the rear shield entirely or trim it back. We trimmed it back.

Well that was the last auction when they were $100 higher, they didn't sell. This time they have TWO SETS for $699 or best offer, shipped. I'm thinking that they could go for $650.

At first, I offered $500 which automatically got rejected, then I did a $650 offer which they counters with the $700. So I think that's when they relisted theirs for $699. I mean, I can get cross drilled/slotted rotors and new pads for $400, seems like a minor leap to go $650-700 for a set of frickin' brembos, but if they won't fit under the winter rims, then I'm ass out and gonna end up doing $400, plus another $100 or so for ss braided brake lines. Major bummer, but dem's da brakes :(

the brembos will fit 18 inch rims, ONLY IF you
A. Get 20mm wheel adapters, AND
B. Get brake pads without roller skates.

the issue with the wheels is the offset. they dont clear the exterior side of the brake caliper without adapters. i test fitted this myself with the help of Jaysin.
