2015 Shift Knob Removal

Hey all,

I have 2015 Camaro and I was looking replace the stock shift knob (manual). Just the knob and leave the boot.

In this video,
, the guy turns the chrome piece and then there is a screw under there. Did they change something on the 15s? I can't get that piece to move at all. I'm pulling on it fairly hard, and it won't budge. I don't want to force it and end up breaking it though.

Has anyone else done a replacement like that? Thanks.

It is different in the 14-15 MY's. It's been a while since I changed mine out, but I believe I twisted the chrome ring counter-clockwise and up at the same time. It really wasn't that hard once I figured out what needed to be done.

There are few threads out there on this already, a quick search should get you the answer.

There's 2 styles of shift knobs used on these cars.

The style in the 1st pic was used on all 2010-12 Camaros, except the ZL1.
It is pressed on and is removed by removing the screws on the boot and pulling hard. The boot comes off with the knob.

The style in the 2nd pic was used on 2012 ZL1s and all 2013-15 Camaros.
It is held on by a screw and is removed by lifting on the chrome collar at its base, rotating it counter-clockwise about 1/8 turn, dropping the boot down and removing the allen-head screw on the RH side of the knob base.

The last 2 pics are the removal instructions for the ZL1 and 2013-15 style knob.
