I say go with a FI smaller displacement aluminum V8 in the 4 litre range. Talk about different, talk about weight reduction, talk about domination....there you go.

Forced induction & weight reduction don't go together. And cutting the cube's won't really save any weight. For example the 4.0L V8 that BMW developed for its M3 was praised for how light they managed to make it, a bit under 440 lbs I do believe. Thing is, it still weighs more than an LS3.

Easy.... 427ci LS7, dry sump. But the Z28 would have to be soo much more than a better engine... lighter, better suspension parts, better tires... if not, it will fail to the ZL1 AND Boss 302. I hope they make a winner though!!

That would be great but just use the LSX block & DR heads.

I would like to see the Z28 follow the Z06...
LS7 and 6 Speed Only, Maybe without Dry Sump for $ Savings, Aluminum Structure Components, Stiffer Body, Light Weight Wheels and Tires and an Aero Package.
Offer a Limited Production Radio, AC, Sound Dedening and Rear Seat Delete Package and a Track Package with Differential and Gearing Changes along with better Brakes and Light Weight Front Seats.

Maybe 200 Lbs weight savings is a lot to ask and still be affordable, but 100-125 lbs isn't unrealistic and if you had a limited production option that could save 200-250 lbs, people would buy it.

Then just keep things simple and tune the suspension to handle the road course and move all the weight effectively.

I could see how it would be cheaper to produce a modified LS7 without dry sump and give it a new name than develope an entirely new motor.

If you already have a new engine series under development does it warrant validating a old engine for a new configuration just to release a Z/28, or does it make since to wait for the new engine?????
