I am glad I could help out a little. I am sure with a little more practice and getting my tires broken in a 1.75 60 and a 11.5 run is well within my cars capablity. I am looking into getting a line lock to be able to do alot better burnouts. I am 6'10" with a size 14 shoe. trying to heel to the gas/brake / clutch is a very tricky operation for me lol. There is a car show today at the mountain arts center in p-burg and a cruis*in /burn out contest this evening there also. My car is still dirty from last night so I might just drive up to watch. You sure have a nice car that thing is moving. I hopefully will get to the shooout next month.

That is a good time with your mods, Bluecat is a great tuner. What was your 60 foot time on that run and what tires were you running? On your posi, go to a large parking lot and do a few slow figure 8s? Do you hear or feel anything odd? Most of the time if you hurt the clutches or gears in the rearend it will let you know. If you need a really good mechanic to work on it I definately know the man here in Pikeville. I will PM you details about him.

Every track is different, as is every car. You will just have to give it time and practice the launch to best suit the track conditions for that day. Then when you get a good launch, remember what it was, start there the next track day, and you will know whether or not the track will hold the power better or worse. When I was on the road to getting the stock turbo record for the cobalts, I would wright down the time, track temp, tire psi, launch rpm, and keep a log of it so that the next time out I knew where to start at. Basically I am saying its all practice lol.

my 60' was 1.73 .325 45 r 17 M&H on bogarts . as for the diff. it will do a 1 wheel burn out then pick up and spin both than go back to a 1 wheel burn out . then theres times it will only do a 1 wheel burn out , no noise at all so it cant be to bad ..

I doubt I will see a 1.7 60' with 18s and drag radials, but I can aways keep hoping......... I would guess the problem is the clutch pack, good luck!

On those 18'' wheels with the 40mm offset watch out for the hand brake cable rubbing the inside of the wheel. Use some tywraps and move it back about an inch or the wheel will wear the cable in two.
I get a 1.64 60ft on 275/45/r18 m&h dr set at 17 psi
This is with the auto though so just helping out on the tire and wheel setup.

Madmax, I had great success with the M and H racemaster 275 drag radial. they dead hooked with 550 rwhp on a 40 degree track in March. I also had them on the 40mm offset Z06 wheel. 1.60 60's every single time. But of course I'm A6. But the tires were sticky as hell. Gd luck!

I think you need to look into some suspension modes to help out with weight transfer and traction.

Thank you both for the info, these are great 60' times. Well the good thing is after hours of reading about what tires to buy I ordered a set of 275/45/r18 drag radials Monday morning. Hopefully not a bad thing but I ordered Mickey Thompson Street Radial IIs. LOL! Maybe I should have given this thread one more day.

You are most likely correct, I will know for sure after I go to the track on Nov. 7th

I saw a post on 10/4 where he ran a 7.40 at 98 mph in the 1/8 with a 1.71 60' time. Sure beats my best 7.88 at 93 mph with a 1.977 60' time. I do need some tires.

I have a question for you guys. I've been having a blast at the drag strip the last couple of weeks but honestly I know the maro can do better. After struggling out of the gate know I need some meats that will bite. I found a pair of 20" 05'Rs locally that will fit my current wheels. After further review- I'm thinking they are too big for my setup. My question is will the 20"s slow me down. Should I ditch the 20"s and start over with 18"s. That would mean getting 18" wheels and tires.

Are the 18"s worth it in the end?

There can be a lot to consider. The reason I am going with the 18" wheels is to get a lighter wheel/tire and add more sidewall which should help a lot more than trying to get good 60 foot times out of the heavy low sidewalled 20 inch rims and tires. Also I am going with agressive drag radials which are not going to be good for daily driving (especially in the rain). I plan on just switching them at the track a few times a year as needed. The bottom line is a 20" setup will never be close to what you can get out of an 18" in traction off the line.
