We deserved it. It seems like everyone forgot about little old Space City.
You don't hear..."Omaha we have a problem" or "Los Angeles we have a problem" or "Mayberry we have a problem"! Do ya?

I got to take a look at Endeavor prior to its maiden flight when I was at KSC back in '91. It was sitting in the VAB, I believe. Then I was lucky enough to visit Columbia on the launch pad. Standing in the tower just feet from the windshield and then walking around the catwalks to inspect the SRBs was a little humbling, I must say. The next day I watched the launch of STS-40 from the parking lot of the VAB. It still ranks as one of the loudest sounds I ever heard. That was a fun trip - thank you taxpayers...

Not to be rude, but I think that thing should've stayed in Houston.

If you guys are gonna be mad about not getting a shuttle, be mad at Space Center Houston. SCH felt so entitled to a shuttle that they didn't even bother to send in a proposal until the last possible second because they thought that they had it in the bag just because they're Houston. Obviously it doesn't work that way.

Johnson Space Center placed in 10th place out of 13 locations in the final selection process.

Where Houston lost points is that they didn't have the funds at that time, they didn't have a facility on property or under construction, it would be rather difficult to get it to Space Center Houston, and that SCH isn't really an international location.

If Space Center Houston put more towards getting a shuttle instead of just assuming that they were gonna get one, they would've had a better chance.

Los Angeles deserved a shuttle, no doubt about that. And they put forth a great effort to make sure they got one.

Is Wright-Patterson open to the public? I would love to go again next time I am in the midwest.

I don't mean to turn this into a political fight, but I believe we would've had the funds if a certain Commander in Chief would've kept space exploration moving instead of letting a certain other country pass us up. The money funding a certain Southern border outrage could've been used for the use of ourselves and our main priority, the U S of A!!!!

I'll have to remember that. For some reason, I thought it was only for military/dependents. I'll have to drive over next time I am in the midwest.

Seattle wasn't able to get a shuttle, but we did get the trainer. At least we can go inside

Sometime this winter I will have to check it out. It was crazy busy when it first arrived.

It wouldn't have made a difference. There's no use in pushing the blame on other people/organizations for SCH not getting a shuttle. In the end, SCH just didn't put in any effort. Just look at how they treated their Saturn V for so many years.

And yes, I agree that Bush's decision to retire the program in 2010 was a mistake. But what's done is done and the only thing we can look to now is Orion (SLS)

That's what I wanna hear. Seattle got a trainer, but they see it as more than just a trainer. I only wish SCH would do this with Space Shuttle Independence and SCA 905.

It is open to the public. Love that place, one of the things I miss about Ohio.

I'm a conservative and even I have to say you have no idea what you're talking about.

Houston barely put up any effort to get a shuttle. It's your own fault really.
