Cat delete? Or headers and cat delete?
I love my 2013 ZL1 but I'm not satisfied with the sound. My SS sounded better with a simple muffler delete IMO. So I have narrowed my options down to a cat delete and or headers. I mainly want to know if there's anyone out there who has a cat delete ONLY with stock exhaust. Also wanna keep cost down, but it almost seems more cost effective to get headers w/ hi flow or deleted cats. I also want to keep my stock mufflers I like my butterfly valves. THANKS IN ADVANCE fellow Z'elsters!
PS sound clips would be nice also. |

sorry I don't have an exhaust clip, but I have totally factory exhaust with cats removed and I honestly think it sounds like hammered shit. It is fairly obnoxiously loud especially with the flaps open, but it's not a clean loud, it's a dump truck kinda loud, if that makes any sense. I actually wired the flaps shut so I can kinda stand it, but the exhaust will be replaced at some point. Now sound is a subjective thing, so others may find it to their liking, but personally I prefer a good sounding exhaust as opposed to one that is just loud. To clarify I removed them for performance and weight savings, not to improve exhaust note. It will certainly make it louder if that's what you are looking for.

I don't notice any serious drone with it,so it's good there, but I don't know if I'd call it nascar stock car rumble. I had slp axleback on stock manifolds, then with LT's and no cats , and also 3" flowmaster catback with LT's and no cats with electric cut outs on my 2010 SS and all of them were far superior sound to the factory sound with or without cats on my ZL1. Again my honest opinion.

Here you go. Hope this helps. Kooks 1 7/8 headers, Kooks offroad non-catted connections pipes, factory cat back NPP exhaust. I had Kooks Hi Flo cats with this combo and switched to offroad connection pipes.. Love the difference. I'll attach a link of the comparison as well. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=352008 |

Can we trade cars? That's the sound I'm looking for. If you don't mind me asking about how much did it cost to run the full setup? And is the w or w/o CAI. She sounds nasty bro! |

....and I should add that even just the headers and off road pipes would sound great with stock cam/heads. Mine did before I added the stage II. |

Yep. He's a dealer for about any and all parts almost and prefers the Rotofab. That's what he uses.. See what the CAI, Headers, & ORC Pipes would run? Good luck!

headers & no cats sounds less trashy than manifolds and no cats. I think a nice Magnalflow, SW, Corsa, etc cat back would make the ZL1 sound much more mellow and less harsh. Stock catback is fair for sound compared to these noteworthy brands.
