Now that's been taken away from you I guess you will waste your time trolling about the new Ford GT500

I personally think the suspension is part of what makes this car so great and getting supercar numbers on the nurburgring. with the press of button she is track ready and another push ready for a road trip.

Trust me that magnetic ride feels sweet. So not just "basically" bolts on.
I agree there must be something good regarding the suspension because
The 599 ferrari also has this type of suspension.
But just skeptical to spend the coin ....i thought in my mind they would have
Raised the bar by 10 to 12 thousand ...but 18 is over the top ....
Look at the zr1 a 125k vette and now you can buy a 2009 zr1
For 85/88k used of course.
I think the zl1 will have the same course just like the zr1.
Of course this is just ny opnion.

Don't take out your disappointment of the ZL1 on me. I still say 45k is all it's worth for 2nd best.

Still in, just not sure I'm keeping the A6 or exposed CF options now. I like the benefit of remote start, a higher top speed and quicker launches, but I don't think the GG tax AND extra $$$ for the auto is going to be worth it. If they made the A6 a no cost option (other than the GG tax) I could see getting it.

$600 for exposed CF is kind of high. I've got to do more research as to what extra care is required for the black "mohawk" before I make any changes to my order.

Why are we comparing a 2012 ZL1 to a 2013 GT 500? Why not compare a 2013 ZL1 to the 2013 GT 500, as NOTHING has been said about the 2013 ZL1 performace yet. I think if you wait GM will stomp Ford once again. Either way, if I could afford it, I'd go ZL1 every day. It looks meaner in Park, than ANY Ford at WOT!

"The 2013 GT500 and the 2012 ZL1 will be produced and on dealer lots at the same time, yes? " That would be a No... Ford cannot release a 2013 before a certain date in 2012 and it's not Early or Mid, like when the 2012 ZL1 will be available. Chevrolet can produce and release a 2013 on the exact same date as the 2013 GT availability. Why not just stomp the 2011s and 2012s while waiting on our 2013 as well. You people are so impatient!

18K over 2SS is not unreasonable considering:

1) magnetic ride
2) stronger drive train
3) improved suspension
4) 580HP SC motor
5) better aerodynamics
6) better brakes
7) body kits
8) dual mode exhaust
9) better tires and wheels

To add all of this to a 2SS with a reputable builder can easily cost 18K. Op top of it, you still have the factory warranty.

My Corvette Grand Sport MSRP was $59,230. There was a $3000 rebate + got the car under invoice. A little over 50k out the door! Factory Specs on the GS..436 HP Weight- 3370 lbs. 0-60--3.95 sec 1/4 mile--12.3 sec. @ 117 MPH Top Speed--190 MPH MPG 17 city 26 Hwy.

Im In, but man I wish the ZL1 would have went with the drilled rotors as seen on this vette, would have looked so much better with those 10 spoke open wheels going on my ZL1 then it does with the solid rotors.

For crying out loud...
Chevy DID what they said they would do. They went after the 2011-2012 GT500 and DID what they said they would do. They can take it down with the 2012 ZL1. Its proven already.
Yall are into refering to MY '13 already and were still sitting here in Nov 2011.
Enjoy what you have now and stop all this back and forth back and forth MY13 crap...
Thats all it is... Crap...
Chevy will respond to the 2013 GT500 when the time is RIGHT.
Not when we want them too.
People need to chill a bit.
Mod this, mod that.... Jeesus..
Be happy with what you have. If your not happy sell what you have and buy something you can afford and be happy with that no matter what brand of car it is.
AMEN 2012 ZL1 and 2013 gt500 not apples to apples, 2012 ZL1 and 2012 gt500 apples to apples and ZL1 is definetly the sweeter apple

Like P.T. Barnum said, "There is a sucker born every minute". I am not one of them and if I buy a ZL1, I will pay 45k, perhaps it may be yours when you trade it in for the better performing GT 500.
