Fake RS badgin from dealer? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey guys, I've been lurking on the forums, figure I would register to post this question. A dealer here has a certified pre owned 2011 RS. It has the badging front and back, the wheels, HID.. other than that, I don't know what else. I'm not too familiar with the options, but the roof has black strips rather than painted, the fog lights have a button to control them rather than no control/DRL the RS supposedly has, no halo headlights.

Does that alone show any one with more info that this is just bs badging? Any information would be appreciated, obviously the dealer will try and sell anything.

If it doesn't have halos, that's a pretty big indication of BS. You did say it had HIDs though...what did you mean?

1) if the dealer really did put RS badges on an RS car. You need to get pictures and do two things. First post them on here, and second: report them to GM

that dealers eitehr doesn't knwo his product and doesn't realize he took a car in trade thinking it was a RS and it isn't.....OR he is trying to pull a fast one of you, are someone else.

but what you are looking it is NOT A TRUE RS Packaged car.

Seeing that it is a CPO car, the previous owner may have added them. That being said, seeing that it is a CPO car, the dealer should definitely make it clear that it's not actually an RS car.

Then again...it's a dealer.

they could just be ignorant, and not know. You need to post pics here and then tell them you want a carfax...the vin doesnt lie. If they are scamming, they will get in a heap of trouble.

Is it a V6 or a V8?
The 6 will have badging that says RS.
The 8 will have red SS's if it's an RS.

Doesn't sound like it's an RS........

While it might have the RS badging (Probably installed by the prior owner), are they actually advertising/selling it as an RS??

That's the key. It doesn't matter if the previous owner installed it or if the dealer installed it. If the dealer is advertising and selling the car as an RS and it is NOT an RS he's committing fraud. Which would could argue into being a conspiracy because the whole dealership would have been in on it and not told you.

Just saying.

RS package also comes with back up sensors if it's a 2011. might want to check the rear of the car and see if it has the backup sensors.

Not sure if you are disagreeing with me here. But my point is that if it does have RS bagging BUT the dealer is not advertising and/or pricing it as RS (Lets assume the window sticker just states 2LT), then there really is not as issue. Correct?

Negative Ghost rider. The backup sensors are part of the 2SS or 2LT package, not the RS package. Non-painted roof ditch and no halos means no RS... period.
