Rock Chips!!

My ZL1 doesn't even have 9,000 miles on it but the rock chips are unreal! It is super-frustrating because it looks terrible on such a awesome car. Just wish that the paint was a bit more durable.

Any recommendations on how to (1) stop it from getting worse and (2) fix the damage that has already been done?

Clear Bra from Day 1 is the best bet.

Also, don't tailgate or follow closely behind other cars. Always leave around 5 car lengths between you and the car in front. You will be cut off a few times I'm sure, but just let that car get a bit ahead of you. Also, the slower you go, the better. If you're going 80 mph down the highway, you'll get more rock chips in the same conditions vs. 55 mph.

Clear bra is the best way to do it. A ton of our customers get clear bra on all sorts of cars, even for Prius' and teslas. I recommend Xpel or Llumar.

Clear Bra on front facia, the mirrors, and the gills. Best $900 I ever spent.

I definitely agree. Clear bra works great. You can kind of see it if you get up close(my car is black, so I'm not sure if you can see it on other colors) but a "deeper" clear coat look is definitely better than rock chips!

You might want to rephrase that last part of your post? How can an inanimate object such as a rock chip know how fast you are traveling? Not getting the correlation? Isn't forward motion, forward motion period? It will still hit the same area and cause damage. Are you referencing projectile speeds? I've chipped windshields traveling at posted speed limits.

However, Einstein Jr would say that your forward motion, say at 80mph vs 40mph will compound the affect of any projectile or still object you run in to. So the window you chip at posted speed limit will be a crack at higher speeds. It's the LOGIC. Get it? Faster = more damage. LOL

For instance the faster this car went, the more damage it did to the car.

Had my front bumper done (upper/lower), all the front lights, mirrors, door handle depression area, gill area and lower rockers which take you up a good 4-5".... and just behind the front fender area. (You can head to an XPEL site and see the options available which is what most will use, even if they don't use the product line)

I sell and install it, have it all over mine...best thing ever!
3M has a new and improved material coming out next year that they say is waaaay better than anything on the market today. We'll see though.
Its all pretty good stuff now, no matter the brand.

Depending on how bad your chips are if you cover them with clear bra it may make them look worse. I did xpel ultimate and wouldn't go without it. I spend 2300 on complete front and complete sides of quarters and now don't feel bad when I here the rocks sling. If they are very small chips you could try Dr color chip before the clear bra.

Get different tires. Get wheels that dont stick out so far. Get rock guards that stick out and down more than normal. They need to be big and look dumb to do any good.
